FRIARS ENTER BIG EAST TOURNAMENT AS THE NO.3-SEED...
Providence men's soccer enters the BIG EAST Tournament as the No.3-seed for the sixth time in program history. The Friars have posted a 3-2 record when entering tournament play as the No.3-seed.
23RD APPEARANCE ALL-TIME IN BIG EAST TOURNAMENT
The Providence Friars have qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament 23 times in program history. Providence has posted an all-time record of 22-21 in BIG EAST Tournament action.
FRIARS VS. CREIGHTON ALL-TIME PLAYOFF SERIES
Providence and Creighton have faced off three times in the BIG EAST Tournament. Providence leads the all-time series playoff record, 2-1. In 2013, the then No.4 Friars defeated the then No.5 Bluejays, 2-1, in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals.
SURVIVE AND ADVANCE
The Friars have advanced to the BIG EAST SEMIFINALS 15 times in program history. Additionally, Providence has made six Championship Game appearances (1984, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2019, 2021).
FRIARS WIN BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2014
The Friars' most notable run in the BIG EAST Tournament came during the 2014 campaign when the squad earned the BIG EAST Chamionship Title. That year, Providence earned a bye in the First Round and went on to defeat Villanova in the Quarterfinal Round (2-1), Creighton in the Semifinal Round (1-0) and Xavier in the Finals (2-1). The Friars went on to play in the NCAA Tournament, making it all the way to the Final Four, the most
notable run in program history.

The Friars have posted a remarkable 3-0 all-time record when playing against No.6-seeds in the BIG EAST Tournament.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
Providence enters the BIG EAST Tournament with an 7-5-3 overall record.
The Friars were voted to finish second in East Division of the BIG EAST Preseason Men's Soccer Coaches' Poll.
BALANCED ATTACK
Fourteen different players on the roster have recorded at least one point for the Friars, including two freshmen and four transfers.
Nine Friars have scored at least one goal this season, including seven multi-goal scorers: Gevork Diarbian (two), Brendan McSorley (nine), Bruno Rosa (three), Pearse O'Brien (three), Nathan Messer (four), Cole Dewhurst (two), and Rodrigo Vaza (two).
FRIARS VS. TOP-5 RANKED OPPONENTS
Providence has earned a 1-1-1 record vs. top-five nationally ranked opponents. The Friars' only loss vs. top-five foes came against then-No. 1 Syracuse, 2-0 (Aug. 24). On Sept. 15, the Friars went on to tie the then No.3 Akron, 3-3. The Friars recently defeated then No.5 Georgetown, 1-0, on Oct.14.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Brendan McSorley leads the team in scoring with 19 points on nine goals and one assist. Four of his nine goals have been game winners. He's registered at least one point in three of the Friars' last four games.
Nathan Messer and Pearse O'Brien rank second on the team in scoring with 12 points on four goals, four assists, and three goals, six assists, respectively.
Lukas Burns has played all 1,350 minutes in goal for Providence and owns a 1.33 goals against average and a 0.667 save percentage. He has six shutouts this season which ties his career-high.
SCOUTING CREIGHTON
Creighton claimed the No. 6 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. Last season, the Bluejays entered the BIG EAST Tournament as the No.6-seed. They then went on to claim the BIG EAST Championship title and a spot in the NCAA Tournament. In the 2022 College Cup, Creighton made it all the way to the semifinals, marking the second appearance in program history for the Bluejays.

Pope leads the team in points on seven goals on the season. Miguel Arilla is second in points with 12, he has four goals and leads the team in assists (four).
Goalkeeper Blake Gillingham has played 900 minutes for the Bluejays. With 43 saves on the season, Gillingham registers a 1.50 goals against average and a .741 save percentage.
CREIGHTON TIES
This match will mark a reunion for some of the Providence players. Friar players Nathan Messer, Bernardo Prego, Rodrigo Vaza, and Gevork Diarbian played with Creighton players Mark O'Neill, Nathan Schnur, Giorgio Probo, and Alfie Pope for USL2 team Vermont Green during the summer of 2023.
Vaza and Messer played with Creighton players Miguel Ventura and Nathan Schnur for Vermont Green during the summer of 2022.
Vaza and Prego played with Giorgio Probo at Iowa Western Community College for the 2020-21 season, leading the Reivers to a conference championship and a spot in the NJCAA national tournament final.
Vaza and Prego played with Miguel Ventura for Sporting Academy in Lisbon, Portugal between the years of 2015-2018.
