PROVIDENCE, R.I.– The Providence College women's hockey team will host Merrimack College at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17 before hosting Boston University at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18.
Scouting the Friars
The Friars are currently 3-8-0 overall and 3-4-0 in Hockey East. The Friars split last weekend with Northeastern University. The Friars took a 6-1 loss on Friday, Nov. 10 then won, 3-1, on Saturday, Nov. 11.
Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) finished Friday night with 34 saves and
Mireille Kingsley (Sudbury, Ontario) recorded 16 saves on Saturday.
Lauren DeBlois (Lewiston, Maine) scored the Friars lone goal on Friday with help from
Audrey Knapp (Stevens Point, Wis.).
Maddy Coene (Clayton, N.Y.) led the Friars in points on Saturday with a goal and an assist.
Hockey East Preseason Poll
The Friars were picked to finish third in the Hockey East Preseason Poll, which was released on Tuesday, Sept. 12. The Friars, who received 74 points, were picked to finish behind Northeastern (88) and Vermont (75). The Huskies, who won the 2023 Hockey East Tournament, received eight first place votes.
Rounding out the poll was UConn (65), Boston University (59), Boston College (58), Maine (38), New Hampshire (35), Merrimack (28) and Holy Cross (20).
Fresh Friar Faces
Providence welcomes nine new players (two transfers and six freshmen) to the roster for the 2023-24 season.
Grace Shirley (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) is a graduate student from University of Wisconsin and
Hannah Johnson (Readfield, Maine) a junior from Syracuse University. The six freshmen are

Hockey East Award Winners
Audrey Knapp was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week as announced on Oct. 23 for scoring three goals in two games.
Scouting the Warriors
The Warriors enter the weekend at 5-8-2 (2-6-2 HEAW). Last weekend, Merrimack tied Holy Cross, 2-2, on Friday, Nov. 10. The Warriors then defeated Holy Cross, 4-3, on Saturday, Nov. 11.
Who to Watch
Celine Tedenby leads the Warriors in points with seven goals and six assists. Following Tedenby in points is Mary Edmonds with three goals and six assists.
Goaltender Calli Hogarth has started between the pipes in 14 games. Hogarth has recorded 333 saves this season for a .905 save percentage and a 2.46 GAA.
All-Time Series with the Warriors
Providence and Merrimack currently leads the all-time series record, 21-1-2. The last time the Friars faced Merrimack was in Jan. 2023 when the Friars won, 5-2.
Scouting the Terriers
The Terriers enter the weekend at 5-3-1 (4-3-0 HEAW). Last weekend, Boston University split the weekend with New Hampshire. The Terriers lost 4-2 on Friday, Nov. 10 then won 5-3 on Saturday, Nov. 11. This past week, the Terriers lost 3-1 to Harvard on Tuesday, Nov. 14.
Who to Watch
Lacey Martin leads the Terriers in points with seven goals and two assists. Following Martin in points is Clara Yuhn with two goals and six assists.
Goaltender Mari Pietersen has started between the pipes in five games. Pietersen has recorded 98 saves this season for a .867 save percentage and a 2.61 GAA. Alexa Matses has played four games as netminder and has tallied 63 saves for a .887 save percentage and a 2.43 GAA.
All-Time Series with the Terriers
Providence currently leads the all-time series record against Boston University 35-30-5. The last time the Friars faced off against the Terriers was in January 2023. The Friars tied the Terriers 2-2 win on Jan. 17. Providence won the shootout, 2-1, to earn the extra Hockey East point.
