With the win, the Friars have qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament.

NDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- Providence College defeated Butler University, 3-0, on Oct. 21 in BIG EAST men's soccer action in Indianapolis, Ind. Bruno Rosa (Cascais, Portugal) tallied two goals on the night. Brendan McSorley (Randolph, N.J.) recorded a goal and an assist.

GAME FLOW & NOTES 

• The two teams played to a scoreless draw in the first half. The Friars outshot Butler, 6-4. McSorley (Randolph, N.J.) led Providence with two shots.  

• The Friars picked up the pace in the second half, outshooting Butler, 14-3, in the final 45 minutes and, 20-7, on the night.  

• In the 65th minute, McSorley opened the scoring following his two-touch finish to the near post. Gevork Diarbian (Cranston, R.I.) assisted.  

• In the 72nd minute, Diego Batista (Barcelos, Portugal) and McSorely found a through-ball to Rosa for a goal.  

• Five minutes later, Rosa scored his second goal of the night. Afonso Serrano (Evora, Portugal) and Batista were awarded the assists. 

• Providence College improved its unbeaten streak to six, which is currently the best in the BIG EAST.  

• Goalkeeper Lukas Burns (Cinnaminson, N.J.) registered his sixth shutout of the season.   

• With 14 points in conference play, the Friars have clinched a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament.

(1-0)-Providence – 65:10/2nd- McSorley scored a two-touch finish to the near post.  

(2-0)-Providence -72:30/2nd – Rosa's shot outside of the box found the back of the net.  

(3-0)-Providence- 77:38/2nd – Batista sent a through-ball to Rosa who turned and finished.
