PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Providence men's soccer upset No.5 Georgetown on Oct.14 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.
Gevork Diarbian (Cranston, R.I.) scored off a header in the second half to seal the win for Providence. The last time the Friars upset a top-five team was when they defeated then No.1 Georgetown, 3-0, in 2021 in Providence. The Friars are 1-1-1 against top-five teams this season.
Lukas Burns (Cinnaminson, N.J.) recorded his fourth consecutive shutout, he has five on the season. Providence improved its undefeated streak to four.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
• The two teams played to a scoreless draw in the first half. Each team posted seven shots.
Diego Batista (Barcelos, Portugal) and
Brendan McSorley (Randolph, N.J.) led the Friars with two shots each.
• Diarbian had the first clear scoring opportunity for either team following a break-away play in the 68
th minute.
•The Friars appeared to take the lead in the 74
th minute after McSorley found the back of the net. However, the goal was disallowed for offsides.
• A minute later, Diarbian officially opened the scoring when he headed in Batista's free-kick. His second goal of the season.
• Burns registered a season-high of six saves.
• This is the fifth time the Friars have upset a top-five team since 1996.
