PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced on Monday (March 14) that Providence College senior defenseman Michael Callahan (Franklin, Mass.) has signed a two-year entry-level contract beginning in the 2022-23 season.

Callahan, a three-year captain for the Friars, appeared in 138 games while totaling 13 goals and 53 assists over that span with a +24 rating. He was a First Team Hockey East All-Star in 2019-20 after recording career-highs in goals (5), assists (23) and points (28). In 2021-22, Callahan finished with three goals and 11 assists for 14 points as the Friars finished the season with a 22-14-2 mark.

Originally a fifth-round selection by the Arizona Coyotes (142nd overall) in the 2018 NHL Draft, Callahan's rights were traded to the Bruins back on Feb. 22.
