LAST TIME OUT
- The No. 17 Providence College men's hockey team raced out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back as the Friars defeated Vermont, 4-1, in Hockey East action at Schneider Arena on Saturday night.

Patrick Moynihan netted the first goal for the Friars at the 11:26 mark of the first. Moynihan's goal, assisted by
Brett Berard and
Parker Ford, came on the power play after Luca Munzenberger was called for interference.

Michael Citara followed up with another goal with just 3:57 remaining in the opening period. Assisted by
Alex Esposito and
Max Crozier, the goal served as Citara's second of the season.
-The Friars had back-to-back goals in the second period, just 12 seconds apart from one another. The first came from Berard as he rang in his team-high 14th goal of the season off the post after a chip pass from
Nick Poisson along the boards.
Cody Monds followed 12 seconds later as he finished off Crozier's rebound off the end boards.
Kohen Olischefski earned the secondary assist on the play on Monds' fourth goal of the year.
-After Providence's fourth goal, Gabe Carriere replaced Tyler Harmon in net for Vermont.
- Vermont got on the board 2:05 into the final period with a goal from Isak Walther.
- The Catamounts put another one in the net shortly after, but officials waived the goal off after review due to a hand pass.

Jaxson Stauber recorded 18 saves for the night.
 - Shot attempts were 52-35 in favor of the Friars.
- The Friars swept the three-game season series with the Catamounts and improved to 10-3-1 on home ice this season.

A Look at Boston University...
The Terriers are 9-1-0 over their last 10 outings including a 4-3 win against Harvard in the Beanpot on Monday night. Domenick Fensore leads the team in scoring with 22 points on four goals and 18 assists. Wilmer Skoog also boasts 22 points while Robert Mastrosimone paces the Terriers in goals with 11. Goaltender Drew Commesso, who was named to the U.S. Olympic Team, has posted a 2.48 GAA and .915 save percentage in 24 games. Vinny Duplessis has recorded a 2.05 GAA and .912 save percentage over six appearances.

The Friars and Terriers conclude their season series on Thursday night at Schneider Arena. Boston University scored a 5-2 victory over the Friars back on Jan. 30 at Agganis Arena.

Taige Harding Added to the Roster
The Providence College men's hockey program has addedÂ
Taige Harding (St. Albert, Alta.) to the roster for the second half of the 2021-22 season. The 6-foot-7-inch, 230-pound defenseman will wear No. 27 with the Friars. A third-round selection (91
st overall) of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2021 NHL Draft, Harding joins the Friars after spending two and a half seasons with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). As a captain for the Oil Barons in 2021-22, Harding ranked second on the team in scoring with 14 goals and 23 assists for 37 points in 37 games. He also was named AJHL Defensive Player of the Week three times this season. In 99 career games with Fort McMurray, he amassed 20 goals, 36 assists and 154 penalty minutes.

Balanced Scoring
Seven players recorded at least two points in Providence's season-opener against Army on Oct. 2 -

The Friars now ranks third in the NCAA on the power play with a .284 success rate. The penalty kill ranks 7th nationally, checking in at 87.9%.

Providence ranked sixth in the nation with 84 goals that returned this season. The 82% of returning goals ranked fourth nationally. The Friars also returned 76% of their points from last season, which also ranked sixth.

The Friars have the 16th youngest roster in the NCAA this season (average age of 21 years, 11 months). Freshman Guilluame Richard is one of the younger players on an NCAA roster this year at 18 years and 8 months.

Fourteen Former Friars Participate in NHL Training Camps, Seven Earn Roster Spots
Providence boasts 14 former players that have participated in NHL training camps thus far in September. Noel Acciari (FLA), Kasper Bjorkqvist (PIT), Jacob Bryson (BUF), Vincent Desharnais (EDM), Jack Dugan (VGK), Brandon Duhaime (MIN), Jon Gillies (NYI), Mark Jankowski (NJ), Brian Pinho (WSH),
Greg Printz (ANA), Kevin Rooney (NYR), Brandon Tanev (SEA),
Tyce Thompson (NJ) and Jake Walman (STL). Acciari, Bryson, Duhaime, Rooney, Tanev, Thompson and Walman all made opening night rosters, while Duhaime made his NHL debut on Oct. 15 in Anaheim. On Jan. 2, Bjorkqvist made his NHL debut and scored his first NHL goal against the San Jose Sharks.

Stauber Named Hobey Baker Nominee
Providence College junior goaltender
Jaxson Stauber (Plymouth, Minn.) has been nominated for the Hobey Baker Award, given annually to the top player in Division I men's hockey. Stauber ranks sixth in the NCAA with 17 victories, sixth in shutouts (4), 10th in save percentage (.927) and second in minutes played (1784:35). The junior has surrendered two or fewer goals in 20-of-30 starts this season in posting a 2.02 goals-against average.

Sophomores
Brett Berard and
Nick Poisson find themselves at the top of Hockey East's major scoring categories. Berard leads the league in scoring with 32 points on 14 goals and 18 assists. He also is tied for first in game-winning goals (4) and power-play goals (7). Poisson ranks second in scoring with 31 points and first with 23 assists.
