PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's hockey team defeated the Merrimack Warriors, 4-3, at home in Schneider Arena on Tuesday, Feb. 8.
KC Brooks (Colorado Springs, Colo.) netted the game-winner for the Friars on her first career point with 5:25 remaining in play push the Friars ahead.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
Providence jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from
Caroline Peterson (East Falmouth, Mass.) and
Delaney Couture (Shrewsbury, Mass.). Peterson put the Friars on the board, 1-0, at the 7:14 mark of the first period. Assisted by
Hunter Barnett (Caledon, Ontario) and
Lily Hendrikson (Edina, Minn.), the goal served as Peterson's sixth goal in the last five games and tenth of the season.
Couture followed up with a goal just 1:23 later, 2-0.
Hayley Lunny (Bedford, N.Y.) and
Isabelle Hardy (Oakville, Ontario) earned the assists on the play and Providence carried the 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
Merrimack got on the board, 2-1, with a goal from Hannah Corneliusen at the 12:33 mark of the second.
Lindsay Bochna (Toronto, Ontario) put the Friars ahead, 3-1, with a goal just 38 seconds later with help from Barnett.
After
Bailey Burton (Bloomington, Minn.) was whistled for slashing with 5:10 remaining the second, the Warriors scored on the power play, 3-2, making it a within-one game heading into the third period.
The Warriors found the equalizer, 3-3, at the 7:34 mark of the third with a goal from Emily Oosterveld.

Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and Burton.

This weekend, the Friars will go head to head with the UConn Huskies. Providence will travel to Storrs, Conn. on Friday, Feb. 11 at 6:00 p.m. before hosting the Huskies at home on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 3:00 p.m.
