PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted Bowdoin College on Dec. 31 at Taylor Natatorium in Providence, R.I.
The men's team claimed first place finishes in eight individual events and one relay to top the Polar Bears, 140-78.
Seth Brodnick,
Quinn Danus and
Noah San Vicente guided the team to victory by winning multiple events. Brodnick won the 800-meter freestyle (8:57.15) and 400-meter free (4:21.08). Danus claimed victory in the 200-meter IM (2:12.60) and the 200-meter butterfly (2:12.75). San Vicente topped the field in the 200-meter backstroke (2:09.96) and the 200-meter freestyle (1:56.99).
Aidan Hughes also finished first in the 50-meter free (24.09) and
Will Layden touched the wall ahead of the field in the 100-meter free (53.71).

McGovern Brown,
Ryan Sharp and Hughes teamed up to win the 200-meter freestyle relay with a time of 1:35.81.
On the women's side, Providence fell to Bowdoin, 129-95. Three Friars claimed individual victories during the meet.
Annie Gathof picked up a win in the 800-meter free (9:42.78).
Courtney Reilly paced the field in the 100-meter freestyle (1:00.84).
Katie Winklosky rounded out the individual winners for the Friars in the 400-meter free (4:43.90).
The Friars will head to Puerto Rico Jan. 5-12 for their annual winter training trip. Upon their return, both teams will compete in four more dual meets to close out the season before heading to the BIG EAST Championships (Feb. 22-25).
