Volleyball Travels To No. 13 Creighton And Xavier For BIG EAST Play

The Friars kick off the weekend at Creighton on Friday, Nov. 4 at 2:00 p.m. (ET)

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence college volleyball team is set for face No. 13 Creighton on Friday, Nov. 4 at 2:00 p.m. (ET) in Omaha, Neb. before traveling to Milwaukee, Wis. to take on BIG EAST foe Xavier on Sunday, Oct. 6. The match is set for 1:00 p.m. (ET).

SCOUTING THE FRIARS… The Friars head into the weekend with an overall record of 11-13 (3-9 BIG EAST). Providence went 1-1 last weekend as they faced Villanova and Georgetown on the road. The Friars fell to Villanova, 3-1, on Oct. 28 and defeated the Georgetown Hoyas in five sets on Oct. 29.
 
Kayla Grant (Rowlett, Texas) continues to be an offensive asset for the Friars as the sophomore middle blocker ranks sixth in the BIG EAST in hitting percentage; hitting .312. Grant has notched 61 kills in conference play. The middle blocker leads the team in blocks, with 68 block assists and nine solo blocks on the season.
 
Brielle Mullally (Garden Grove, Calif.) leads the Friars in points with 307, averaging 3.23 points per set. Mullally has remained an all-around player for Providence through conference play after recording 192 assists, a team-best 127 kills, 106 digs, 26 block assists and 19 service aces across 12 matches. The senior currently ranks third in the BIG EAST in services aces per set (.42). Mullally earned a BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll nod on Oct. 10 after recording a triple-double to steer the Friars past Xavier for the first time since 2017.
 
Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.), the Friars' defensive specialist, has also been a key player for Providence. Taylor leads Providence in digs (388) and her 4.67 digs per set ranks third in the BIG EAST. The graduate student has also added 102 assists. In the match against Connecticut, Taylor moved into third place in the Friars' all-time career list for digs, currently standing at 1,660 digs.
 
Shaliyah Rhoden (Rowlett, Texas) is second on the team in kills with 232 this season. In conference play, Rhoden has recorded 109 kills for the Friars. The sophomore has also collected 33 digs and put up 15 total blocks (13 blocks assists and two solo blocks) in BIG EAST matches.

SCOUTING THE BLUEJAYS:
The nationally ranked Creighton Bluejays enter the weekend ranked first in the BIG EAST after posting a 20-3 overall record (12-0 in the BIG EAST). Last weekend, the Bluejays downed Seton Hall and St. John's on the road.
 
Preseason BIG EAST Player of the Year, Norah Sis leads the BIG EAST in kills per set with 362 kills across 88 sets (4.11 kills/set). The sophomore's 4.52 points per set ranks second in the BIG EAST.

Sophomore Kendra Wait leads the Bluejays and ranks first in the BIG EAST in assists, with 963. Wait has collected 291 digs and 16 service aces overall.
 
Freshman Ava Martin has made an offensive impact this season, hitting .259 and averaging 2.18 kills per set.
 
SCOUTING MUSKETEERS:
Xavier enters this weekend with an 8-4 BIG EAST record and is 15-7overall. The Musketeers went 2-0 on the road last weekend as they defeated St. John's in five sets on Oct. 28 and Seton Hall in straight sets on Oct. 29.
 
Senior Brooklyn Cink leads the team in kills with 273 and is eighth in the BIG EAST in kills averaging 3.25 kills/set.
 
Senior Carrigan O'Reilly currently ranks sixth in the BIG EAST in assists per set (8.55), tallying a team-best 761 on the season. O'Reilly is third on the team in digs (238).
 
Sophomore Lucia Corsaro's 4.15 digs per set ranks seventh in the conference. Corsaro leads the team with 349 digs on the season, 191 of which she added in conference play.
 
WHAT'S NEXT… Providence will return to Alumni Hall to host Marquette and DePaul on Nov. 12 and Nov. 13.
