Providence Defeats Bryant On Final Day Of Friar Thanksgiving Classic, 85-60

Janai Crooms registered 19 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists and earned Most Outstanding Player honors.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College defeated Bryant, 85-60, on the final day of the Friar Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 27 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. The Friars went 3-0 over the weekend, with Olivia Olsen earning All-Tournament honors and Janai Crooms claiming Most Outstanding player accolades. In the win over Bryant, Crooms paced the Friars with 19 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists.
1ST QUARTER:
• Bryant opened the scoring just 26-seconds into the game, but the Friars answered with nine-straight points (9-2). Five of Providence's nine points were scored by Emily Archibald.
• The Friars held a 13-8 lead at the media timeout (4:01).
• Providence held Bryant scoreless for the final 5:13 of the quarter and took a 17-8 lead into the intermission.
2ND QUARTER:
• Bryant outscored Providence 6-2 in the opening minute of the second quarter on back-to-back three-pointers to get within five (19-14).
• The Friars used an 18-4 run over the final 4:26 of the quarter to mount a 46-23 lead at the half.
• Providence outscored Bryant 29-15 in the frame overall. The Friars' 29 points is tied for their highest scoring total in a quarter this season.
• The Friars held their largest halftime lead of the season (+23).
• Providence shot a blistering 85.7-percent in the second quarter (12-14), including a 4-5 showing from deep.
• Brynn Farrell and Archibald each scored 10 points to lead the Friars in the first half. The duo had identical stat lines, offensively, each going 3-3 from the field, including 2-2 from three-point territory and 2-2 from the foul line.
3RD QUARTER:
• The Bulldogs outscored the Friars 12-8 through the opening 5:18 of the third, but Providence still maintained a comfortable lead (54-35).
• Bryant held a slim, 19-18, scoring advantage in the frame and Providence carried a 64-42 edge into the final 10 minutes of play.
4TH QUARTER:
• Providence outscored Bryant 21-18 in the fourth quarter on its way to the 85-60 victory.
NOTES:
• Five Friars reached double figures for the first time since February 23, 2019.
• Nine players cracked the scoring column overall.
• Crooms was three assists shy of the program's first triple double, finishing the day with 19 points, 13 boards and seven assists.
• Audrey Koch matched her career high in scoring with 13 points. She finished 4-4 from the field, including a 3-3 performance from beyond the arc. She also netted 2-2 free throws.
• Archibald and Farrell each scored a season-high 12 points.
• Grace Efosa contributed 10 points, marking her third double-digit game of the season and fourth of her career.
• Providence out-rebounded Bryant, 47-34.
• The Friars also dished a season-best 19 assists, while turning the ball over just 10 times.
• Providence shot 50-percent from the field (32-64), including 9-17 from three-point range (52.9-percent). The Friars also converted 70.6-percent of their free throws (12-17).
• The Friars held the Bulldogs to 32.4-percent shooting (22-68). Providence has held six of its eight opponents under 40-percent this season.
