Austin Roden made 20 saves in his first shutout as a Friar.


PROVIDENCE, R.I.
– Senior goaltender Austin Roden stopped all 20 shots he faced for his third career NCAA shutout as the No. 9 Providence College men's hockey team blanked Vermont, 4-0, on Friday night at Schneider Arena. Providence extends its unbeaten streak to seven games (4-0-3) and remains unbeaten in eight Hockey East contests (5-0-3).

NOTES
- Austin Roden earned his first start as a Friar on Friday and he began the game turning away all 10 shots he faced in the opening period.
- Brett Berard broke the ice at 10:01 of the first period as he finished off his own rebound off a strong net-drive for his fifth goal in the last five games. Taige Harding earned the assist on the play.
- Providence extended the lead to 2-0 on Chase Yoder's fourth of the season after he finished off a rebound from a Bennett Schimek shot.
- Jaroslav Chmelar beat Carriere top on an odd-man rush just three minutes later to extend the Providence lead to 3-0. Sophomore Garrett Sundquist earned his first NCAA point with an assist on the play.
- Riley Duran was assessed a five-minute major and game misconduct at 13:09 of the second period but the Friar penalty kill was up to the task and killed off the entire major.
- The Friars controlled the play in the third period, outshooting the Catamounts by a 11-3 margin.
- Parker Ford gave Providence some insurance with his fourth goal of the season to make it a 4-0 game at 8:51 with a tap-in goal off a centering feed from Brett Berard.
- Providence has won six-consecutive games and are unbeaten in the last 10 games against Vermont (7-0-3).
