Volleyball Prepares For No. 17 Marquette and DePaul

The Friars will kick off the weekend against Marquette on Nov. 12 at 1:00 p.m. in Alumni Hall.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College volleyball team is set to host No. 17 Marquette University on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 1:00 p.m. before welcoming DePaul University on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 1:00 p.m. Prior to the start of Sunday's match, the Friars will honor seven members of the program in a senior ceremony. The honorees include graduate student Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) and seniors Sasha Rudich (Austin, Texas), Jennifer Leitman (Irvine, Calif.), Brielle Mullally (Garden Grove, Calif.), Emma Nelson (West Chester, Pa.), Caroline LaMacchia (Rockville Centre,  N.Y.) and Elena Leontaridou (Thessaloniki, Greece).

SCOUTING THE FRIARS… The Friars head into the weekend with an overall record of 11-15 (3-11 BIG EAST). Providence went 0-2 last weekend as they faced No. 13 Creighton and Xavier on the road. The Friars suffered a 3-0 loss to No. 13 Creighton on Nov. 4 before falling to Xavier in straight sets on Nov. 6.
 
Brielle Mullally has proved to be an asset on all ends of the floor. Mullally leads the Friars in points with 325.5, averaging 3.22 points per set. In conference play, the senior has notched 217 assists, a team-best 143 kills, 123 digs, 27 block assists and leads the team with 21 service aces. Mullally's overall .42 service aces per set ranks fourth in the BIG EAST.

Kayla Grant (Rowlett, Texas) continues to be a force at the net as the sophomore middle blocker ranks seventh in the BIG EAST in hitting percentage, hitting .317. Grant has notched 71 kills and leads the team in blocks with 41 (seven solo blocks and 32 block assists) throughout conference play.
 
Mackenzie Taylor, the Friars' defensive specialist, has also been a key player for Providence. Taylor leads Providence in digs, with 454 (213 in conference play) and her 4.63 digs per set ranks third in the BIG EAST. The graduate student has added 60 assists in conference play. In the match against Connecticut, Taylor moved into third place in the Friars' all-time career list for digs, currently standing at 1,694 digs.
 
Emma Nelson is second on the team in kills, recording 254 total kills and 131 in conference play. Nelson has reached double-digit kills in four of the last seven matches, including a season-high 19 kills against Georgetown on Oct. 29.
 
SCOUTING THE NO. 17 GOLDEN EAGLES… The nationally ranked Golden Eagles enter the weekend ranked No. 2 in the BIG EAST after posting a 22-2 overall record (13-1 BIG EAST). Last weekend in BIG EAST play, Marquette had a weekend sweep, downing both Georgetown and Villanova in straight sets and is now riding a seven-game win streak.
 
Junior Carsen Murray currently leads the BIG EAST in hitting percentage, hitting .403 with 182 total kills. Murray's average of 1.19 blocks per set has her leading the conference in the block category as well, with 96 total blocks.
 
Senior Carly Skrabak leads the team with 374 digs and her 4.40 digs per set ranks fourth in the BIG EAST. Skrabak has also added 13 service aces.
 
Junior Aubrey Hamilton ranks sixth in the BIG EAST in average points per set with 3.91. Hamilton ranks fifth
 
SCOUTING THE BLUE DEMONS…DePaul enters the weekend with a 5-9 BIG EAST record and is 9-17 overall. Most recently, the Blue Demons recorded a 2-0 weekend after downing both Villanova and Georgetown in straight sets at home.
 
Junior Jill Pressly ranks third in the BIG EAST averaging 4.20 points per set. She is second in the conference in kills with 391, averaging 3.80 per set. Pressly has also added 38 blocks and 21 service aces.
 
Junior Rachel Krasowski averages 4.93 digs per set, ranking second in the BIG EAST. She has added 132 assists.
 
Sophomore Maggie Jones leads the team, averaging 5.96 assists per set and has 614 total assists this season.
 
WHAT'S NEXT… Providence will prepare to close out the regular season as they welcome Connecticut on Nov. 16 before traveling to Butler on Nov. 18 for the regular-season finale.
