Chase Yoder scored shorthanded in the third period and Philip Svedebäck made 26 saves as the No. 9 Providence College men's hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie with No. 7 UConn on Friday night (Nov. 11) at Schneider Arena. The Huskies claimed the extra point in the Hockey East standings with the shootout win.

NOTES
- Providence held a 13-3 advantage in shots through a scoreless opening period. Both teams came up empty on their two power-play opportunities.
- Philip Svedebäck stood tall in the second period, stopping back-to-back shorthanded breakaway attempts by the Huskies late in the period.
- During a UConn power play midway through the third period,
Chase Yoder intercepted a drop pass at the Huskies' blue line and beat Terness with a backhand shot to put Providence up 1-0 at 8:57. It was Yoder's second shorthanded goal in the last three games.
- The Huskies capitalized on a late power play as Justin Pearson put away a rebound to level the game at 1-1 at 16:18.
- Overtime couldn't resolve things and the game went to a shootout with each team earning a point.
- UConn's Sami Salminen was the lone scorer in the shootout as the Huskies earned the extra point in the standings.

Max Crozier led the way in blocked shots for the Friars with four as the team had 19 overall on the night.
- The Friars remain unbeaten in Hockey East play with a 4-0-2 record.
