PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Van Cortlandt Park in New York, N.Y. for the NCAA Northeast Regionals on Friday, Nov. 11. The women's 6k race is set for 11:00 a.m., followed by the men's 10k race at 12:00 p.m. The Providence women are ranked first in the Northeast Region and 18
th nationally, while the men are ranked third in the region. The top two men's and women's teams will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championship on Nov. 19.
The Friar women will be led by Jane Buckley (Cork, Ireland), Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) and Lilly Tuck (Sunderland, Canada). At the BIG EAST Championship in Attleboro, Mass. on Oct. 29, Buckley finished first (20:06), Flockhart finished fourth (20:18), and Tuck finished sixth (20:27) to give the Friars a second-place finish. Buckley is the first Friar freshman and second freshman in league history to win the BIG EAST Cross Country title.
Marcelo Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) and David Principe, Jr. (Johnston, R.I.) will lead the charge for the Friar men. Rocha led the Friars to a second-place finish at the BIG EAST Championships. Rocha finished fourth (23:35) and Principe finished eighth (23:37).
