PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team fell to No. 22 Maine, 3-0, on Sunday, Oct. Providence dropped to 5-8 on the season, with five of its eight losses coming at the hands of nationally-ranked opponents. Maine improved to 10-3 on the year. The Friars honored their five seniors and two graduate assistants prior to the match.
GAME FLOW
• The opening quarter was scoreless (0-0).
• Maine held a 6-0 advantage in shots during the opening 15 minutes.
• The Black Bears got on the board at 26:41 as Poppy Lambert scored off a direct shot on a penalty corner. The Friars were a player down at the time of the goal due to a yellow card.
• Maine carried a 1-0 lead into halftime.
• The Black Bears led in shots (8-1), shots on goal (5-1) and corners (2-1).
• Maine picked up two goals in the third quarter to take a 3-0 advantage on the scoreboard.
