The Friars will host the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct.29.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Members of the Providence College Men's and Women's Cross Country teams competed today (Oct. 21) at the Rothenberg Invite hosted by Brown University. The race was held in Attleboro, Mass. at Highland Park. The Friar runners were not scored as a team and therefore did not receive a team score.
Senior Tessa Hunt (Wellington, New Zealand) finished the women's 3k race in first place with a time of 10:49.9. Second to finish overall was redshirt freshman Cara Laverty (Derry, Ireland) who crossed the finish line in a time of 10:54.2. Senior Ashley Foley (Beverly, Mass.) finished in fourth place (11:09.4) and rounding out the Friar women was sophomore Claire Kelly in 9th overall (11:14.0).
On the men's side, redshirt freshman Ryan Bush (Saratoga, Springs, N.Y.) finished the 5K race first for the Friars and second overall in a time of 15:24.0. Following Bush was redshirt freshman Luke Coffin (Annapolis, Md.) with a third-place finish (15:26.1). Graduate student Sean Meehan (East Greenwich, R.I.) placed 8th overall with a 15:44.2 time. Junior Jacob Hefele (Danbury, Conn.) finished in 10th with a time of (15:52.2). Graduate student Tim Dolan (Cinnaminson, N.J.) had a 14th place finish (16:05.8).
The Friars will return to action on Oct. 29 when Providence hosts the BIG EAST Cross Country Championship at the Mark Coogan Course in Attleboro, Mass.
