Providence will host Maine for a 6:00 p.m. puck drop on Friday, Jan. 28 followed by the series finale on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 4:30 p.m. Saturdays game will be aired on NESN+.

The Friars fell to the Black Bears, 2-3, back on Nov. 21.
Caroline Peterson (East Falmouth, Mass.) and
Lindsay Bochna (Toronto, Ontario) scored goals, while
Hayley Lunny (Bedford, N.Y.) had two-point performance off of two assists. The Friars trailed 3-1 going into the second intermission and the third period was scoreless for both teams until the final minute of play when Bochna netted one for the Friars with 26 seconds remaining. The Friars rally came too late as they were not able to find the equalizer in the final seconds of regulation.
Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) made 19 total saves for Providence, while Loryn Porter made 41 saves for Maine.
Last Time Out
Providence is coming off a 0-2 weekend after falling to Vermont 1-3 (Friday, Jan. 21) and 1-4 (Saturday, Jan. 22) in a road-series in Burlington and a 2-4 loss at Boston College (Tuesday, Jan. 25).
In Fridays game, after pulling
Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) for the extra-man with 1:15 remaining the regulation,
Lauren DeBlois (Lewiston, Maine) got the Friars within one, 2-1, off a loose puck. DeBlois was assisted by
Isabelle Hardy (Oakville, Ontario) and
Claire Tyo (Massena, N.Y.) on her first goal of the season. The Catamounts then put one in on the empty net with 8.8 seconds to go, securing a 3-1 win over the Friars.
On Saturday,
Hayley Lunny (Bedford, N.Y.) recorded the lone goal for the Friars 1:10 into the third period, 2-1. Lunny was assisted by
Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.) on her fifth goal of the season. The Catamounts added two more goals in the third period to close out the game 4-1.
On Tuesday, Hailey Lunny (Bedford, N.Y.) and
Bailey Burton (Bloomington, Minn.) both netted goals for the Friars, both of which were on the power-play, but Boston College netted three third period goals to propel themselves over the Providence College, 4-2.

Lindsay Bochna and fifth year
Hayley Lunny lead the offensive charge, both recording a team-high 14 points, with six goals and eight assists each. Captain
Caroline Peterson follows Bochna and Lunny with nine points, with four recorded goals and five assists.
Sandra Abstreiter and
Mireille Kingsley (Sudbury, Ontario) have both seen time in net for the Friars, with Abstreiter recording 15 starts versus Kingsley's eight. Abstreiter has a 1.86 goals against average and a .941 save percentage with 445 total saves on the season. Kingsley has recorded 210 total saves for a 1.60 goals against average and a .942 save percentage.
Hjalmarsson with Team Sweden
Senior
Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) has been named to the Sweden Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team for the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
Having previously represented Sweden in the 2018 Winter Games in PyeongChang, Hjalmarsson will be making the second Olympic appearance of her hockey career. Hjalmarsson is the 11
th player in program history to compete in the Olympics and is one of only six Friars to appear in multiple Olympic games.
In addition to Hjalmarsson's Olympic selection by Team Sweden, the Providence College women's hockey program also will be represented in the 2022 Beijing Games by Associate Head Coach
Ali Domenico, who was selected as an Assistant Coach for Team Canada.
Scouting Maine
Maine is 8-9-1 overall and 7-8-1 in the Hockey East. The Black Bears sit in the number five spot in the Hockey East rankings. Maine is coming off of a weekend sweep at Merrimack, taking game one, 4-2, before defeating the Warriors in the series finale, 3-1.
As a team, Maine averages 1.5 goals per game while giving up 1.6. The Black Bears convert of 16.3% of power play chances and kill off 94.4% of penalties.
Who to Watch
Sophomore Ida Kuoppala leads the team offensively with 10 goals and five assists for 15 points. She is followed by Rahel Enzler who has nine points from three goals and six assists.
Loryn Porter has played all 18 games in net. She holds a 1.49 goals against average and a .954 save percentage with 566 saves and a 8-9-1 record over the season.
