PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Lukas Burns (Cinnaminson, N.J.) of the Providence College men's soccer team was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday, September 13. This marked Burns' first BIG EAST weekly recognition.
Burns helped the Friars maintain a 1-1 draw against intrastate rival, URI, on Monday September 6
th when the Friars were a man down for the majority of the second half. Burns made 12 saves in the match including three in the overtime period. On Friday September 10, Burns had 3 saves with no goals allowed in 77 minutes of action in the Friars 3-1 victory against Loyola University Maryland.
The Friars are 3-1-1 in their first five games of action in the 2021 season. Next up they will face their first BIG EAST opponent, Seton Hall on September 18
th in South Orange, New Jersey.
