Friars upset Fordham… In Thursday night's opener, the Friars shutout No.23 Fordham in a 3-0 victory at Chapey Field (Providence, R.I.). It marked the first time ever the Friars shutout a ranked opponent in their season opener.
 
Scouting the Peacocks… Saint Peter's was selected eighth of 11 teams in the MAAC Preseason Rankings for the 2021 season. Starting the season in an overtime thriller against Mt. Sant Mary's, the Peacocks fell short in a 2-1 loss in Waldron Family Stadium (Emmitsburg, Md.). The Peacock's have 16 returning players to their roster, including captain Jamie Davis, as well as adding two graduate transfers and six freshmen. Davis had the only goal for the Peacocks in their season opener on the road against Mt. Saint Mary's.
 
Scouting the Friars… The Friars were voted finish fourth of 11 teams in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll for the 2021 fall season. The Friars are fresh off a win against No.23 Fordham, on Aug. 29.  
Luis Garcia (Gran Canaria, Spain) returns to action, after the first two-goal performance for the Friars since 
Brendan McSorley registered multiple goals against Villanova on March 20, 2021. The Friars welcome back leading scorer Gevork Diarban (Cranston, R.I.) who scored goals in three consecutive games finishing last season with seven points. All-BIG EAST Preseason selections 
Paulo Lima (Lisbon, Portugal) and 
Ramzi Qawasmy (Landsdale, Pa.) also return for their senior seasons.
