CONSHOHOCKEN, PA. – The Providence College field hockey team was defeated by the 17
th-ranked Old Dominion Monarchs 3-0 on April 16 in Conshohocken, Pa. ODU scored two of its three goals in the final 16 minutes to earn the victory.
FIRST QUARTER:
• ODU broke through at 13:10 with the first goal of the game by Delphine Le Jeune on a penalty corner. Le Jeune's goal was assisted by Marlon de Bruijne.
• The two teams were even at three shots apiece until the final two minutes of the quarter, when the Monarchs recorded three of their four quarters, which yielded four shots.
• After 15 minutes of action, ODU held advantages in shots (7-3), shots on goal (5-3) and penalty corners (4-1).

Asia Porter collected four saves in the opening quarter, while Cam MacGillivray stopped three shots for Old Dominion.
SECOND QUARTER:
• The Friars attempted the first shot of the second quarter, which resulted in a Providence's second penalty corner opportunity of the game at 19:24.
•
Nora Goddard-Despot managed a shot attempt on cage at 21:02, but her bid was saved by MacGillivray – her fourth of the game.
• Providence's defense held the Monarchs without a shot attempt until 27:12, after giving up a penalty corner, but the attempt was blocked out front.
• ODU registered its second corner of the quarter at 28:05, but Porter turned away Le Jeune's shot attempt to keep the Monarchs off the scoreboard.
• Old Dominion held on to its one-goal lead at halftime (1-0).
• Through the opening 30 minutes, ODU held advantages shots (9-5), shots on goal (6-5) and penalty corners (6-2).
• Each of the Friars' first five shots in the game were on target (5-5).
• Porter and MacGillivray each went into the break with five saves.
THIRD QUARTER:
• Providence's
Niamh Gowing had the first good scoring chance of the third quarter, but her shot was saved by the ODU keeper.
• ODU was awarded a penalty corner at 44:17 and resulted in the Monarch's second goal of the afternoon to take a 2-0 lead.
• Nicole Fredricks scored the goal off a direct shot and was assisted by Le Jeune and Marlee McClendon.
• Old Dominion took a 2-0 lead into the final quarter of play.
FOURTH QUARTER:
• ODU was awarded two penalty corners in the first four minutes of play.
• Fredricks cashed in on the second corner for her second goal of the game at 48:53. She was assisted by Le Jeune and McClendon.
NOTES:
• Providence and Old Dominion will square off for a second time tomorrow [April 17] at Noon.
• A win for the Friars would clinch a spot in the BIG EAST Tourament.
• Porter (PC) and MacGillivray (ODU) each recorded six saves in the game.
• Providence's defense held ODU's de Bruijne without a goal. She entered the weekend ranked second in the BIG EAST in goals per game (1.20) and fourth in overall goals (12).
