Providence, R.I.- The Providence College women's soccer team will travel to South Orange, N.J. to take on the Seton Hall Pirates. Kick-off is set for 6:00 p.m on Thursday, March 11. The Friars enter the match 3-1-0 overall (1-1-0 BIG EAST). The Pirates sit at 1-2-0 overall (1-1-0 BIG EAST).
Friars All-Time Against The Pirates… Seton Hall holds a 8-9-0 advantage over Providence all-time. In the last meeting (2019), the Pirates defeated the Friars, 4-1, in South Orange, N.J.
Hannah McNulty (Warwick, R.I.) scored the Friars' lone goal.
Friars Split Opening Week Of BIG EAST Play… Providence split its first two BIG EAST games of the season. In its first conference game of the season, on March 4, Providence defeated UConn, 2-1, in Providence, R.I. After falling behind 1-0, Esther Ronn scored late in the first half to tie the game to enter the break.

On Sunday, March 7, the Friars fell to the #21 Georgetown Hoyas, 1-0, in Washington, D.C. The Hoyas scored the lone goal of the game in the 22
nd minute.
McNulty Moving Up… Hannah McNulty (Warwick, R.I.) currently ranks tied for sixth all-time in career scoring at Providence. McNulty has scored 23 goals and added seven assists for 53 points during her career. Through four games of the 2021 spring season, McNulty has recorded one goal.
Filling Big Shoes… Freshman
Emma Bodmer (Monroe Township, N.J.) has settled in as the Friars' starting goalkeeper . Bodmer replaces former Friar and current NWSL goalie
Shelby Hogan. Hogan was a three-time All-BIG EAST honoree and 2019 BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year. Bodmer has started all four games for Providence. She has recorded 12 saves and has allowed just two goals. Bodmer currently has one shut-out, one combined shut-out and a .857 save percentage. Bodmer has been named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week twice this season.
Immediate Impact… Six newcomers have registered at least one point in the four games this season. Freshman
Meg Hughes (Rochester, Mass.) leads the Friars in points (five) and assists (three). Freshman
Kyla Gallagher (Farmington, Conn.) is tied for second in points (three),with one goal and one assist. Freshmen

Avery Snead (Wrentham, Mass.) have each tallied a point for the Friars. Transfer Esther Ronn (Copenhagen, Denmark) has scored a goal for the Friars.
Shut-Out The Ocean State… Providence defeated Ocean State foes, Rhode Island and Bryant, by a combined 6-0 score in back-to-back matches to open the season.

Sam Murray (Medway, Mass.) combined for the shut-out. Bodmer has not allowed a goal this season in 166:26 minutes of action, while Murray has held opponents scoreless for 13:32.
Awards All Around… Avery Snead (Wrentham, Mass.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll (3/8) following her performance in the 2-1 BIG EAST opening game victory over UConn. Snead scored on her only shot attempt of the game, and it marked her first career goal in a Friar uniform
Bodmer, Rothmann and Gallagher were named to BIG EAST Weekly Awards (2/22) following their performances against Bryant. Bodmer was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week and
Alexis Rothmann (Norwell, Mass.) was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. Additionally,
Kyla Gallagher was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
Bodmer, Birchwell and Hughes all earned BIG EAST Weekly Awards (2/15) following their performances against Rhode Island. Bodmer was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper on the Week, while Birchwell and Hughes were BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll honorees.
Scouting the Pirates… Seton Hall enters Thursday's match with a record of 1-2-0 overall, including a 0-2-0 mark in BIG EAST play. In their most recent match, the Pirates fell to St. John's in overtime, 2-1.
Cassy Harrigan leads the Pirates in goals (two) and points (four). Grace Gordon has started all three matches in net for the Pirates. She has given up seven goals in three games and holds a .611 save percentage.
Friars Picked Third in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll East Division… The BIG EAST Conference announced its Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll on Monday, Feb. 1. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the BIG EAST has split into two divisions for the upcoming season. The East Division is comprised of: Georgetown, Villanova, Providence, UConn, St. John's and Seton Hall. The MidWest Division is: Xavier, DePaul, Butler, Marquette and Creighton. The Friars were picked to finish third among 6 BIG EAST schools behind Georgetown and Villanova.
McNulty was the lone Friar to receive preseason recognition. McNulty was a unanimous selection on the Preseason-All BIG EAST Team. She started all 20 games for the Friars last season. She led the team in points (18) and goals (nine), including four game-winners. McNulty went on to earn All-BIG EAST First-Team honors at the conclusion of the season.
Newcomers… The Friars welcome eight freshman and two transfers to the squad. Incoming freshman include

Sara Vijfhuizen (Bilthoven, The Netherlands) transferred from NAIA's University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. Both transfers have three years of eligibility.
Up Next… The Friars return home to take on the Villanova Wildcats. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m. on March 14 at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.
