SOUTH ORANGE, N.J.- The Providence College volleyball team downed Seton Hall, 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-18) on March 6 in South Orange, N.J. Providence improves to 3-1 overall, 1-1 in the BIG EAST while Seton Hall drops to 3-2 overall, 1-1 in the BIG EAST.
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS- Seton Hall jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead. The Friars battled back to tie it, 10-10. The rest of the set went back and forth, with the Friars winning the set on an attack error by Seton Hall, 25-23.
Jennifer Leitman (Irvine, Calif.) led Providence with four kills.
Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) chipped in with nine digs and six assists.
Providence held Seton Hall to a .078 hitting percentage.
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS- Providence led the set from start to finish. The Friars won the set, 25-18.
Leitman led all players with five kills and chipped in with two digs.
Barber had a set-best 11 assists.
Carolina LaMacchia (Rockeville Centre, N.Y.) anchored the Friars defense with a team-best five digs in the set.
Providence had a .364 hitting percentage on the set.
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS- After Providence fell behind 6-3, the Friars took 16 of the next 20 points to take a 19-10 lead. Providence kept the lead throughout the remainder of the set and won, 25-18.
Emma Nelson (West Chester, Pa.) had an 1.000 hitting percentage with four kills on four total attacks.
Barber tallied 11 assists and three digs.
Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) led the Friar defense with five digs.
Providence held Seton Hall to a .024 hitting percentage.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
Barber tallied her ninth straight double-double and 13
th of the season against the Pirates. She ended with 28 assists and 15 digs.
Barber was one of three Friars with double-digit digs. Taylor ended tied with Barber with a team-best 15 digs and LaMacchia had 12.
Leitman led the Friar offense with 12 kills.
As a team, the Friars recorded 40 kills on 117 total attacks, 58 digs, 37 assists and nine total team blocks.
