PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College volleyball team will host BIG EAST foe Connecticut in back-to-back matches on March 12 and March 13 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE:
• Providence College enters the weekend with a 3-1 overall record and a 1-1 mark in the BIG EAST.
• The Friars completed non-conference play with a 2-0 record, defeating Ocean State rivals, Bryant (3-1) and Rhode Island (3-1).
• Providence split a pair of matches against Seton Hall on March 5-6 to open BIG EAST play. The Pirates prevailed in the first match, 3-2. Providence responded the next day with a decisive victory in straight sets.

Emma Nelson is hitting .260 on the young season, averaging a team-best 3.63 kills per set. She has a team-best 58 kills overall on 127 attacking opportunities.

Jennifer Leitman is averaging 3.31 kills per set this season. She owns 53 kills on 156 total attacks, with 26 attacking errors (.173).
• Both
Sasha Rudich (1.71 kps) and
Emma Fink (2.08 kps) are adding solid numbers to the attacking line. Rudich is hitting .279, while Fink sits at .328. Both players have recorded 61 total attacks. Rudich has 24 kills overall, while Fink has recorded 27.

Allison Barber and Taylor Mackenzie are leading the team in digs, with 51 and 42, respectively. Barber is averaging 3.19 digs per set, while Taylor is second among her teammates, with 2.63.
• Barber is all over the stat sheet this season as the teams' primary setter. She has recorded 148 set assists (9.25 per set) and also ranks third among her teammates in total blocks, with 10. She has recorded one solo block and has assisted on nine others. Additionally, Barber leads the Friars in service aces.
SCOUTING CONNECTICUT:
• Connecticut enters the weekend with a 2-4 overall record, including a 2-2 mark in the BIG EAST.
• In the Huskies return to the BIG EAST, the team has split conference matches with St. John's (3-1, 1-3) and Villanova (1-3, 3-1).
• UConn is coming off of a non-conference loss to Temple (1-3) in its most recent match on March 7.
• Caylee Parker leads the Huskies' offensive attack, with an average of 3.75 kills per set. She is the primary focus for any defense, as she has recorded a team-high 255 total attacks, while the next highest total attempts belong to Kennadie Jake-Turner, with 107 total attacks (1.83 kps).
• Courtney Morris is UConn's primary setter, having recorded 115 assists (6.39 aps).
• Mia Ruffolo (42) and Parker (65) have combined for 107 of the team's 344 digs.

• Upon completion of its matches against Connecticut, the Friars will hit the road to face St. John's on March 19 and March 20 in Queens, N.Y.
