Volleyball Set To Finish Regular Season Against Villanova

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College volleyball team finishes up its regular season this weekend at home against the Villanova Wildcats. Providence will kick off the series with a match on Friday, March 26 at 6:00 p.m. The Friars will return the following night, Saturday, March 27 at 6:30 p.m., to conclude their regulation season and celebrate their seniors.
SCOUTING THE FRIARS: Providence enters the final weekend with a 5-3 overall record, 3-1 in BIG EAST play. This past weekend, the Friars were swept by St. John's in a road series, 1-3 and 0-3, respectively.
Jennifer Leitman (Irvine, Calif.) and Emma Fink (Western Springs, Ill.) led the Friar offense against St. John's both with 13 kills on the weekend. Emma Nelson (West Chester, Pa.) led the team in kills on Saturday with 6 kills on 21 total attacks, holding a .142 hitting percentage. Nelson currently ranks seventh in the BIG EAST in kills per set (3.10).
Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) has recorded strong defensive efforts, leading the Friars in digs four out of the last five matches.
Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) continues to contribute to Providence's offense, ranking first on the Friars with … assists and fourth in the BIG EAST with 8.90 assists per set. Barber has helps out defensively, adding 86 digs and 2.77 digs per set this season.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS: Villanova enters their final weekend with a 3-3 BIG EAST record, 4-4 overall. The Wildcats are coming off of a loss on March 23 against St. Johns, 0-3, after previously being swept in a series against Seton Hall (March 19 & 20)
Riley Homer led the Wildcat's offense against St. John's with 6 kills and 4 digs. She ranks eighth in the BIG EAST for kills per set (3.08) and fifth in points per set (3.77).
Averi Salvador leads Villanova's defense, ranking third in the BIG EAST in digs per set (4.65). She was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor rolls on March 9.
Setter Belle Morgan ranks fifth in the BIG EAST in assists per set (8.82).
