No. 10 Women's Hockey Clashes With No. 7 Boston College

Puck Drop
The Friars are set for a home-and-home series with No. 7 Boston College. Friday (Feb. 12) will be a 2:00 p.m. game at Kelley Rink. Saturday (Feb. 13) is at Schneider Arena at 3:00 p.m. Both Friday and Saturday's games will be broadcast on NESN. 

Scouting the Friars 
The Friars are currently 10-5-1 overall and 10-5-1 in Hockey East.
 
Caroline Peterson (East Falmouth, Mass.), Isabelle Hardy (Oakville, Ontario), Hayley Lunny (Bedford, N.Y.) and Lindsay Bochna (Toronto, Ontario) scored in Saturday's win against New Hampshire. Bochna netted two goals in the final period to bring the team out of a 3-3 tie and secure the 5-4 victory.
Hjalmarsson leads the charge offensively for the Friars with 15 points (five goals, ten assists). Peterson is second. She's tallied five goals, six assists and eleven points. Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and Bailey Burton (Bloomington, Minn.) are tied for third with ten points each. 17 different Friars have points on the season and 13 players have recorded at least one goal.
 
Sandra Abstreiter has made 16 starts in net. She holds a .927 save percentage and a 1.95 goals against average. The netminder has made 393 total saves and has 3 shutouts.
 
USCHO Division I Women's Poll-February 9th 2021
As of Feb. 9, the Friars are slotting in at number ten in the USCHO NCAA Women's Hockey rankings. This is Providence's tenth consecutive week ranked in the top 10.
 
Hockey East Award Winners 
Claire Tyo (Massena, N.Y.) of the Providence College women's ice hockey team was named the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month for January. Tyo racked up four points for the month on two goals and two assists, leading all Hockey East rookies for the month. She factored in on both game-winning goals in the Friar's weekend sweep of Merrimack (Jan. 15 & Jan. 17) and held a 3-game point streak (2 goals, 2 assists). In game one on Friday night in Schneider Arena, she was credited with the primary assist on Providence's game-winning goal scored by Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden). The Friars went on to win with a 3-0 shutout on home ice. Tyo scored the game-winning goal the following day after putting Providence up 3-2 with 10:44 left in regulation. She now has three goals on the season alongside six assists for nine points.  
 
Lindsay Bochna (Toronto,Ontario) of the Providence College women's hockey team was named the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday, Feb. 8. Bochna tallied back-to-back goals in Providence's victory over New Hampshire this weekend. She lifted the team out of a 3-3 tie 5:03 into the final period and netted the game-winning goal 9:10 later to secure a 5-4 victory over the Wildcats. Currently, the freshman has five goals on the season and is in a four-way tie for most goals on the team. This is Bochna's first Hockey East weekly recognition.
 
Sandra Abstreiter Named to Women's Hockey Goalie of the Year Award Watchlist  
Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) was recognized as the Women's Hockey Commissioners' Association National Goaltender of the Month, as announced on Tuesday, Jan. 5.
 
Scouting the Eagles
No. 7 Boston College is 12-3-0 overall and 12-3-0 in Hockey East play. The Eagles are coming off eight game winning streak, having most recently defeated UConn in a home-and-home series on Jan. 30 (3-2) and Jan. 31 (4-0). Providence has accounted for two of Boston College's three losses on the season.

As a team, Boston College averages 3.33 goals per game while giving up 1.86. The Eagles convert on 11.1% of power play chances and kill off 89.1% of penalties.
 
Who to Watch
Junior Kelly Browne has lead the Boston College attack, registering six goals and 12 assists for a team-high 18 points. Savannah Norcross closely trails having tallied nine goals and seven assists. Sophomores Hadley Hartmetz and Hannah Bilka are tied for points with 12 each.
 
Maddy McArthur, Abigail Levy and Kelly Pickreign have split the work between the pipes and have collectively posted a .936 save percentage and 1.86 goals against average for the Eagles. Maddy McArthur leads the goaltenders in time on ice and has tallied 176 saves for a .921 save percentage and 2.55 goals against average, posting a 5-1-0 record.
