The Providence College women's soccer team will face Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 1:00 p.m. for the First Round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament. The Friars are making their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1993.

Providence In The Big Dance
The Friars are making their second appearance in the NCAA Tournament. It marks the first time since 1993 that the Friars have earned an at-large bid. Head Coach

Common Opponents
The Friars and the Pride have two common opponents in the 2021 season. Hofstra played Stony Brook and cross-town rival Brown University. Providence shutout Stony Brook, 4-0, and the Pride beat them 5-1 in their season opener. Both teams also beat the Brown Bears.
Friars In The Big East Tournament
Providence fell to St. John's in overtime in the First Round of the BIG EAST Tournament on Sunday, Oct. 31.
Players To Watch
Sophomore
Meg Hughes (Rochester, Mass.) leads the Friars in scoring heading into the BIG EAST Tournament with 22 points on nine goals and four assists. Hughes ranks in the top-10 in six different statistical categories in the BIG EAST. Hughes ranks third in goals (9) and goals per game (0.50), fifth in points (22) and points per game (1.22). She also ranks first in shots (70) and shots per game (3.89).
In addition to Hughes, the Friars have three more players in double figures in the scoring column. Freshman
Gillian Kenney (Hanover, Mass.) has 12 points on four goals and four assists while fifth-year
Amber Birchwell (Mastic, N.Y.) has scored 13 points on four goals and five assists. Sophomore
Kyla Gallagher (Farmington, Conn.) has also reached double figures with 10 points on four goals and two assists.
Bodmer In Net
Sophomore
Emma Bodmer (Monroe Township, N.J.) has played 1798:34 minutes in goal for the Friars and has posted six shut-out (4 SHO/2 CBO) victories on her way to an 10-6-3 record. She owns a 0.95 goals against average and a 0.776 save percentage.
BIG EAST Awards
Five Friars earned All-BIG EAST recognition, as announced by the league on Nov. 1. Hughes earned All-BIG EAST First Team. Sophomore
Avery Snead (Wrentham, Mass.) and junior
Alexis Rothmann (Norwell, Mass.) earned All-BIG EAST Second Team. Freshmen
Gillian Kenney (Hanover, Mass.) and
Maria Paveglio (Lake Orion, Mich.) made the All-Freshman Team.

Providence has outshot opponents 320-162. In 17 games this season, Providence has recorded more shots than its opponent.
One-Goal Games
Twelve of the Friars' 19 matches this season have been decided by one goal or less, with three draws on their record. Four of the Friars last five games have been decided by one goal or less. Providence's most recent one-goal match resulted in a 1-0 overtime loss to St. John's on Oct. 31.

Ten of the Friars' 19 matches this season have gone into overtime. Providence has played 118 minutes in overtime this season. The Friars record in overtime matches is 3-4-3.
Scouting The Pride
Hofstra currently holds a 16-3-1 overall record and finished the CAA regular season at 6-2-0. The Pride captured their fourth CAA Conference Tournament Title in five seasons on Sunday, Nov. 7 with a 2-1 win over Northeastern University. This marks the ninth NCAA appearance in program history and the fifth time in the past six seasons. With the win over Northeastern, they reached a three-game win streak.
The Pride average 2.40 goals per game and have a shot on goal percentage of 0.459.
Who To Watch
Senior Miri Taylor leads the team offensively with 42 points. She has scored 16 goals and added 10 assists in her senior campaign. Taylor was named CAA Attacking Player of the Year and First-Team All-Conference Honors. In addition to Taylor, Hofstra has four more players scoring in double figures this season. Fifth-year Lucy Porter has 23 points on six goals and 11 assists. She earned her third-straight CAA Midfielder of the Year honor. Joining Taylor and Porter with double figures is Lucy Shepherd, Ellen Halseth and Georgia Brown. Shepherd owns 27 points on eight goals and 11 assists while Halseth has 17 points on seven goals and three assists. Brown owns 14 points on six goals and two assists and earned CAA Rookie of the Year.
Junior goalkeeper Skylar Kuzmich has played 20 games in net for Hofstra. She holds a 0.49 goals against average and 0.825 save percentage. Her record is 16-3-1 on the season. She has recorded 11 shutouts and one combined shutout.
