No. 20 Men's Soccer Falls Short At Butler In BIG EAST Play, 2-1

Gevork Diarbian tallied the lone goal for Providence against the Bulldogs.

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The No. 20 Providence College men's soccer team fell to Butler, 2-1, in BIG EAST action on Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Sellick Bowl in Indianapolis, Ind.

GAME FLOW & NOTES 
• Butler took a two-goal advantage in the first half, scoring at 10:58 and 31:18.
• Henri Kumwenda was credited with the first goal of the evening, unassisted.
• An own goal gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage.
Gevork Diarbian notched his second goal of the season to cut Providence's deficit to one (2-1) less than three minutes later.
• Butler held a 7-6 advantage in shots and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks in the first half.
• Both teams were scoreless in the second half, as the Bulldogs held on for the 2-1 victory.
• The Friars were kept from scoring the equalizer despite a 7-4 advantage in shots during the second half, along with a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.
• Butler improved to 6-2-1 against Providence in the all-time series. 
• The loss to the Bulldogs marked the first in BIG EAST play for the Friars this season, having entered the match with a 4-0-2 record in the conference.
