The Friars continue Hockey East play against No. 4 Northeastern University on Jan. 22 and 23. Puck drop is Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Matthews Arena and Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at Schnieder Arena.

Scouting the Friars
The Friars are currently 9-2-1 overall and 9-2-1 in Hockey East. Last weekend, the Friars matched up against Merrimack for a home-and-home series, earning a weekend sweep. On Friday (Jan. 15), Providence shut-out Merrimack by a score of 3-0.
Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) and
Ciara Barone (North Tonawonda, N.Y.) both scored second-period goals to help the Friars to the victory. Senior goaltender
Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) made 22 saves in her third shutout game of the season.

On Saturday,
Claire Tyo (Massena, N.Y.) and
Caroline Peterson (East Falmouth, Mass.) both racked up two points for the Friars in their 4-2 win.
Claire Tyo scored the game winner 9:16 into the final frame off a slap shot after
Peterson dished her the puck. The weekend sweep was the Friar's third of the season.

Hjalmarsson leads the charge offensively for the Friars with 14 points (five goals, nine assists). Peterson is second. She's tallied four goals, five assists and nine points).
Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.),
Bailey Burton (Bloomington, Minn.),
Lauren DeBlois (Lewiston, Maine) and
Annelise Rice (Excelsior, Minn.) are all tied for third on the team in points with seven apiece. 17 different Friars have points on the season and 13 players have recorded at least one goal.

Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) has made 11 starts in net. She holds a .942 save percentage and a 1.49 goals against average. The netminder has made 295 total saves and has three shutouts.
USCHO Division I Women's Poll-January 18th 2020
As of Jan. 18, the Friars are slotting in at number seven in the USCHO NCAA Women's Hockey rankings. This is Providence's seventh consecutive week ranked in the top 10.

Scouting the Huskies
The Huskies enter the game with a 6-1-1 overall record and a 6-1-1 mark in conference. Last weekend, the Huskies defeated Maine in overtime, 3-2. In the 2019-20 season, the Huskies went 32-4-2 overall and 24-3-0 in the Hockey East.

Who to Watch
All six of Northeastern University's top scorers return this season, including Alina Mueller who led the team last season in points (66) with 27 goals and 39 assists. Mueller is currently leading the team in points (8) with three goals and five assists. Other returning top scorers include Chloe Aurard, Skyler Fontaine, Mia Brown, Katy Knoll and Jess Schryver who all notched over 20 points last season.
