The Providence College men's hockey team posted their eighth-consecutive winning season in 2019-20 with a 16-12-6 overall record.
The Friars' senior class recorded 86 wins over four seasons.Â
Providence finished Hockey East play at 10-11-3, tied for seventh in the league standings.
Providence advanced to the Hockey East Quarterfinals for the ninth time in Nate Leaman's nine seasons with the Friars before the remainder of the college hockey season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jack Dugan became the first 50-point scorer for the Friars since Devin Rask in 2000-01. He finished the season as the NCAA scoring champion with 52 points on 10 goals and 42 assists. Dugan led all NCAA players in points (52), assists (42), points per game (1.53), assists per game (1.24), power-play points (22), even-strength points (30) and 17 games of two or more points.
Dugan's 42 assists were the most by an NCAA player since 2015-16 and the most by a Friar since Mike Boback in 1991-92. He became the eighth member of the program to be named a Top Ten Finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.
Dugan, along with fellow sophomore Michael Callahan, were named First Team Hockey East All-Stars. Tyce Thompson was named a Second Team Hockey East All-Star and was also nominated for the Hobey Baker Award.
Thompson finished his sophomore campaign tied for third nationally in scoring with 44 points on 19 goals and 25 assists. He finished tied for first nationally in registering a point in 27 games this season. Ten of his 19 goals gave Providence a lead this year, which led all NCAA players.
Graduate transfer Michael Lackey started all 34 games in goal, posting a 2.18 GAA and .922 save percentage.Â
Moynihan led all NCAA freshmen with 10 power-play goals. Rookie defensemen Max Crozier and Cam McDonald paced their fellow freshmen defenders with three game-winning goals each. Overall, freshmen accounted for nine of the Friars' 16 game-winning goals this season.
The Friars finished in the top-10 nationally in: power play percentage (25.6%, 8th) and shots on goal per game (33.7, 6th).
Printz tallied the team's lone hat trick this season, scoring four goals in the season opener against Maine. It was the first four-goal performance by a Friar since 2002.
Providence was 2-1-1 in road or neutral site games against top-10 teams this season.
