Last Time Out
- The Friars fell late on the road to No. 13 Northeastern, 4-3, on Jan. 31. The Friars battled back from a 3-1 deficit, but the Huskies scored with just 5:30 remaining to take the victory.
- Jack Dugan notched his first-career multi-goal game, scoring twice for Providence.
 
Walter Brown Award Semifinalists
- Sophomores Michael Callahan, Jack Dugan and Tyce Thompson were named three of the 23 semifinalists for the 68th Walter Brown Award, given to the best American-born Division I college hockey player in New England, on Feb. 3.
- Eleven teams are represented in the candidate pool, with 17 of the nominees coming from Hockey East institutions.
- Providence has had four winners, with the last being Mike Omicioli in 1999.
 
Bouncing Back
- Providence has yet to lose consecutive games this season, posting a 3-0-3 record following a loss.
- The Friars have outscored teams 24-11 in the six games following a loss.
 
Dynamic Duo
- Providence's Jack Dugan and Tyce Thompson are ranked first and third, respectively, in total point production in the NCAA so far this season. Dugan leads the nation with 44 points and 35 assists. Thompson's 17 goals rank tied for third and his 38 total points are third nationally.
- Dugan has registered 15 multi-point outings and 21 games with at least one point.
- Thompson has 13 multi-point games and 23 games with at least one point.
- Both players were nominated for the 2020 Hobey Baker Award.
 
Underclassmen Success
The Providence sophomore class ranks first nationally among second-year classes in scoring with 117 points on 35 goals and 82 assists - 14 points ahead of second-place Denver. The Friars' freshmen class is third nationally among other rookie classes in scoring with 76 points on 31 goals and 45 assists. Freshmen have accounted for eight of the Friars' 14 game-winning goals this season.
 
Road Warriors
The Friars have found success away from Schneider Arena this season, posting a 6-2-2 record in road games. Providence is 17-7-4 on the road over the past two seasons.
 
Ford Makes U.S. National Junior Team Roster
Freshman Parker Ford earned a spot on the final 23-player roster for Team USA at the 2020 World Junior Championship that began on Thursday (Dec. 26) in the Czech Republic. Team USA fell to Finland, 1-0, on Jan. 2 in the Quarterfinals. Ford met the Friars in Las Vegas on Jan. 4 after traveling over 8,200 miles across 10 different time zones, where he tallied a goal in the 2-2 tie against Cornell.
 
Spreading Out the Points
Twenty-one different Friars have at least one point so far this season. Six of those players have 15+ points and four of them have 25+.
 
Striking First
Providence has scored the game's first goal in 21 out of 26 games so far this season. The Friars are 12-5-4 when scoring first this season.
 
Outscoring Opponents
- Providence has outscored its opponents 91-59 so far this season. The Friars are seventh nationally in scoring margin, with a 1.23 differential.
- Providence ranks tied for seventh nationally in scoring offense, averaging 3.50 goals per game.
 
Strong on the Power Play
- The Friars are 29-for-103 on the power play so far this season and are ranked third nationally with a 27.9% conversion rate. Providence has scored at least one power-play goal in 20 out of the season's 26 games. In eight of those games, the Friars have netted multiple goals on advantages.
- Eight different players have scored on power-play chances, including eight goals from Patrick Moynihan and six from Tyce Thompson.

Dugan currently sits at 44 points. He is on pace for 57.5 points in 34 regular season games. The last Friar to reach 50 points was Devin Rask in 2000-01, while Mike Boback was the last to reach 60 points with his 72-point season in 1991-92. The program single-season record for points was Ron Wilson's 87 points in 1974-75.

SERIES HISTORY VS. UMASS
- This weekend marks the first matchups of the season between the two schools. The teams met three times last season, with the Minutemen claiming two of the three. All three games ended in 3-2 scores.
- The two schools will open the series at the Mullins Center on Friday night, where the Friars have dropped three straight.
- The Friars are 16-15-5 all-time at the Mullins Center and 32-11-1 at Schneider Arena against the Minutemen.

SCOUTING THE MINUTEMEN
- UMass enters the weekend at 16-9-2 and tied for first in Hockey East with a 9-6-2 record.
- The Minutemen have scored just one goal over their past three games, going 0-2-1 during that stretch.
- Junior Mitchell Chaffee leads the way in scoring with 29 points on 16 goals and 13 assists. John Leonard has a team-high 17 goals and ranks second in points with 22.
- Goaltenders Filip Lindberg and Matt Murray have split duties in goal this season for the Minutemen. Lindberg has started 14 games in posting a 7-4-2 record, 1.85 GAA and .930 save percentage, while Murray has started 13 games in posting a 9-5-0 record, 1.86 GAA and .919 save percentage.
