Women’s Basketball Drops 97-55 Contest Against Seton Hall

The Friars return to action on Friday, Jan. 24 against Butler at 7 p.m. at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I.
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Providence College women's basketball team drop a 97-55 contest to Seton Hall on Sunday, Jan. 19 at the Walsh Gymnasium in South Orange, N.J. The Friars fall to 9-10 overall, 0-7 in BIG EAST play and the Pirates improve to 12-7 on the year, 5-3 in the BIG EAST.
FIRST QUARTER:
• Seton Hall broke the 5-5 tie with a 17-0 run to finish the first quarter.
• Providence was held scoreless for the last seven minutes of the quarter.
• Seton Hall led 22-5 at the end of the frame.
• Baskerville accounted for all five Friar points.
• Providence shot 2-10 (20-percent) from the field and 0-2 from deep. Seton Hall shot 7-18 (39-percent) from the field, 4-11 (36-percent) from three-point territory and 4-5 (80-percent from the line.
• Seton Hall forced six Providence turnovers and converted them into 11 points.
SECOND QUARTER:
• Ny-Asia Franklin (East Orange, N.J.) halted a 22-0 run by Seton Hall with a hook shot in the lane, breaking an eight-minute scoring drought for the Friars.
• Seton Hall entered the locker room at halftime with a 53-15 lead.
• Providence shot 21-percent (5-24) from the field, 14-percent (1-7) from deep and 100-percent (4-4) from the line.
• Seton Hall shot 53-percent (19-36) from the field, 40-percent (6-15) from three and 90-percent (9-10) from the line.
• Mary Baskerville (Enfield, Conn.) led the Friars with eight points on 3-3 shooting from the field and 2-2 shooting from the foul line.
THIRD QUARTER:
• Providence rattled off an 8-0 run during a 49-second span late in the quarter.
• The Friars outscored the Pirates 26-24 in the quarter.
• Baskerville led the Friars with six points on 3-3 shooting.
• The Friars came out shooting well, shooting 10-14 (71-percent) from the field, 4-6 (67-percent) from three and 2-2 (100-percent) from the line.
FOURTH QUARTER:
• Seton Hall outscored Providence, 20-14.
• Earlette Scott (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Friars with five points.
• Providence shot 33-percent (4-12) from the field, 20-percent (1-5) from deep and was perfect from the stripe (5-5).
NOTES / HIGHLIGHTS:
• Seton Hall improves to 39-30 all-time against Providence.
• Baskerville led the Friars in scoring for the 10th time this season with 14 points. She shot 6-7 from the field and 2-2 from the line.
• Providence had 13 assists on 19 made field goals.
• Providence shot 19-50 (38-percent) from the field, 6-18 (33-percent) from three-point land and 11-11 (100-percent) from the line.
