Volleyball Travels to Kentucky for 2019 Morehead State Eagle Challenge

The Friars will play twice on Friday at 1:00 and 4:30 p.m. and once on Saturday at noon.

PROVIDENCE R.I.- The Providence College volleyball team will be traveling to Morehead, Ky. for the 2019 Morehead State Eagle Challenge on September 6-7. On the opening day of the tournament, Providence will play Georgia State at 1:00 p.m. and Presbyterian at 4:30 p.m. The Friars will conclude the tournament on Saturday against Morehead State at noon.
 
SCOUTING THE FRIARS: The Friars head to Morehead, Ky. with a 2-1 record. The Friars defeated Merrimack College in straight sets in their most recent match on Wednesday, September 4.
 
Jennifer Leitman (Irvine, Calif.) leads the Friars with 45 kills on 106 total attacks. Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) recorded a team-high 88 assists on 11 sets. Caroline LaMacchia (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) leads the Friars in digs (36).
 
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS: Georgia State enters the tournament with a record of 2-1. The Panthers lost their first match against Western Carolina before defeating both Lamar and Fordham.
 
Sophomore Lauren Bandera earned Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week after averaging 6.27 digs per set. Freshman setter Kambell Hehr recorded 90 assists over the three matches. Senior Morgan Hash and junior Džemila Hadžićare tied with 33 kills to lead the Panthers.
 
SCOUTING THE BLUE HOSE:Presbyterian stands at 1-2 after competing in the Spartan-Demon Deacon Classic at Wake Forest. The Blue Hose dropped their first two matches in straight sets to Wake Forest and UNC-Greensville before defeating North Carolina Central.
 
Sophomore Erin Cooke, who was named to the Big South's All-Freshman team last year, leads Presbyterian in kills (25), total attacks (83) and assists (55). Senior Erin Eulitz leads the Blue Hose in digs (57). Cooke and fellow sophomore Lauren Talbert registered double-doubles in their most recent match against North Carolina Central.
 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES: The Morehead State Eagles sit at 2-1 after competing in the Cristi Curtis Volleyball Invitational at Winthrop University. The Eagles fell in their first match to the host in five sets before defeating North Carolina A&T and Davidson. 
 
Junior Olivia Lohmeier leads the Eagles in kills (54), points per set (4.46) and total attacks (155). Redshirt junior Chandler Clark, who earned Ohio Valley Conference Setter of the Week, leads Morehead State in assists (86). Clark is 156 assists shy of reaching 2,000 for her career. Clark, Lohmeier and junior Lauren Rokey were selected as preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference selections.
 
WHAT'S NEXT: The Friars will travel in-state to Bryant University for their match on Tuesday, September 10at 7:00 p.m.
