PROVIDENCE, R.I.-Â The Providence College men's and women's cross-country teams will race against a strong field this Friday, Sept. 20 at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown meet, hosted by Boston College. The Friars will race at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. The women's 5k will start at 3:00 p.m., followed by the men's 8k at 3:30 p.m. The Friars come into the race ranked ninth in the Northeast Region on the women's side and 11
th for the men.

The women will be led by All-American senior
Abbey Wheeler (Elmira, N.Y.) and junior
Maria Coffin (Annapolis, Md.). In the first meet of the season (UNH Tri Meet), Wheeler and Coffin finished first (17:31.02) and second (17:52.39), respectively. During Wheeler's freshman and sophomore year, she finished sixth at this race. Last season, Wheeler won the Coast-To-Coast Battle In Beantown (17:09.7) by 6.7 seconds. During Coffin's freshman year, she finished 46
thand last year, she finished second for the Friars, 28
th overall (17:52.1).

On the women's side, they will be competing against several nationally ranked teams, including, No. 25 Dartmouth, No. 27 Syracuse and No. 29 Georgia Tech.

For the men, Providence will be led by an experienced group of upperclassmen. Senior
Marcus Karamanolis (Wellington, New Zealand), juniors
Angus White (New Plymouth, New Zealand),
David Rosas (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y.),
Ryan Gallagher (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) and sophomore
Marcus Kemp (Kitchener, Ontario) will look to continue their momentum after finishing first (19 points) at the UNH Tri Meet. Rosas led the Friar pack last year with a 31
stplace finish (24:51.9).

On the men's side, they will be competing against nationally ranked teams, including, No. 3 Washington, No. 13 Syracuse and No. 21 Arkansas.
