PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Providence College volleyball team is hosting the 15
thAnnual Friar Volleyball Classic on September 13-14. The first day of the tournament will feature two matches, while the second day will feature four. Brown, Coppin State and Fairleigh Dickinson will be joining the Friars in the tournament this year.

7:00 p.m. - Coppin State vs. Brown
Saturday, September 14
11:00 a.m. - Brown vs. Fairleigh Dickinson
1:30 p.m. - Coppin State vs. Providence
3:30 p.m. - Fairleigh Dickinson vs. Coppin State
5:30 p.m. - Brown vs. Providence
SCOUTING THE FRIARS:The Friars enter their tournament with a 3-4 record. In their most recent match, Providence fell to Bryant in four sets.
Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) leads the Friars in assists (201) and is second in digs (71). Barber has five double-doubles in the seven matches.
Jennifer Leitman (Irvine, Calif.) leads the Friars with 85 kills on 245 total attacks (3.40 kills per set).
Caroline LaMacchia (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) has tallied a team-high 77 digs.
Jenae Alderson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) and
Emma Fink (Western Springs, Ill.) are tied with a team-high 17 blocks. Alderson also has recorded 50 kills and leads Providence with a .377 hitting percentage.
SCOUTING THE BEARS: Brown enters the tournament with a 3-1 record. The Bears have defeated Seattle University, Holy Cross and the University of North Dakota. Their sole loss on the season came against the University of New Hampshire. Brown was selected sixth in the Ivy League Preseason poll. The Friars defeated the Bears last season in four sets.
Senior Makena Ehlert leads the Bears in kills (61), points (67.5) and kills per set (3.39). Ehlert is second on the team with digs (48).
Sophomore Kristin Sellers has recorded a team-high 95 assists.
Sophomore Ashley Oelrich leads the Bears in digs (60).
SCOUTING THE EAGLES:Coppin State comes to Providence, R.I. with a record of 2-4, with victories over Binghamton and Siena. The Eagles have dropped their last two matches. Coppin State was selected fourth in the Northern Division in the MEAC Preseason poll.
Preseason All-MEAC member Miajavon Coleman has been the driving force for the Eagles. The sophomore leads the Eagles in kills (85). She has recorded 92.5 points and is averaging 4.05 kills per set.
Freshman Ashley Roman has been named MEAC Defensive Specialist of the Week and to the Delaware Classic All-Tournament Team in her young career. Roman leads the Eagles in digs (90).
Sophomore Brianna Lang leads the Eagles in assists (142) and assists per set (6.76)
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS: Fairleigh Dickinson enters the Classic with a 0-7 record. In their most recent match, the Knights fell to Lafayette in four sets. Fairleigh Dickinson was selected eighth in the NEC Preseason poll.
Maggie Maksimovic and Mujay Mambu are tied with a team-high 60 kills.
McKenna Setterlund leads the Knights with 163 assists.
Jaelyn Young has tallied 83 digs through 26 sets.
WHAT'S NEXT: The Friars will head to Storrs, Conn. on Sept. 20-21 for the 2019 Dog Pound Challenge, hosted by UConn. The Friars will play three matches over two days against Dartmouth, Holy Cross and UConn. Following this tournament, the Friars will open up BIG EAST play against Georgetown on Sept. 27 at 6:00 p.m.
