FAIRFAX, VA.-Â The Providence College volleyball team were defeated by East Carolina, 3-2, and beat George Mason, 3-0, on Saturday, September 1 in Fairfax, Va.

Jennifer Leitman (Irvine, Calif.) had game-highs in kills (20) and total attacks (53).Â

Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) had a game-high 49 assists and recorded 11 digs for her first double-double of the season.

Caroline LaMacchia (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) recorded a team-best 17 digs and was one of four Friars with double-digit digs.

As a team, the Providence recorded 73 digs, 63 kills, 55 assists and eight total team blocks.

The Friars earned their first win of the season after defeating the Patriots, 25-23, 25-23, 25-23.

Leitman had a game-high 17 kills and game-high 40 total attacks.

Barber recorded her second double-double of the day with a game-high 31 assists and 11 digs.

LaMacchia led the team with 13 digs.

As a team, the Friars recorded 50 digs, 41 kills, 38 assists and 18 total team blocks led by
Jenae Alderson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.).
