TALKING POINTS            
- The second-seeded Friars and seventh-seeded Eagles will faceoff for a best-of-three Hockey East Quarterfinal series beginning Friday night at Schneider Arena. All quarterfinal games will be streamed exclusively on Flohockey.tv.
- Providence extended its unbeaten streak to six games (5-0-1) with a 3-1 win over Boston College in the regular season finale last Thursday night.
- Tyce Thompson struck for his seventh goal of the season just 45 seconds into the third period, beating Woll with a snap shot past the blocker.
- The struggling Friar power play came up big in the third period as Josh Wilkins and Kasper Björkqvist each cashed in on the man-advantage to give Providence a 3-0 lead with under nine minutes to play. It was Björkqvist's team-leading 15th goal of the season.
- Seven players have now registered at least 20 points for the Friars this season.
- It was the first time since Jan. 5 against Miami that Providence has recorded multiple power play goals in a game.
- Wilkins' two points now move him up to 98 points in his career.
- Providence will be the No. 2 seed in the Hockey East Tournament for the third time under Nate Leaman.
- The Friars are 18-1-2 when scoring at least three goals this season and evened their record at 4-4-3 when entering this third period tied this season.
- Providence aims for its sixth Hockey East Semifinal appearance in eight seasons under Nate Leaman.
- Hayden Hawkey looks to continue his postseason success from last season - the senior netminder posted a 1.63 GAA and .934 save percentage through the Hockey East and NCAA Tournaments in 2017-18.
- Brandon Duhaime led all players during last year's postseason run with two goals and three assists in six games.
- Entering the weekend, Jack Dugan leads all NCAA freshmen with 22 even strength points and ranks second with nine multi-point games. Dugan also solely holds or ties the Hockey East rookie lead in assists (22), points (32), points per game (0.91) and game-winning goals (3).

SERIES HISTORY VS. BOSTON COLLEGE
• The Friars and Eagles will meet in the postseason for the first time since the 2012 Hockey East Semifinals, where Boston College earned a 4-2 win to advance to the Hockey East Championship game.
• This weekend's series marks the fourth meeting between the two schools in the quarterfinal round and first since 2008. It will be just the second time that Providence has ever hosted Boston College in a playoff series - in 1996 on the way to a Hockey East championship, the Friars swept in the Eagles in a best-of-three series.
• Overall, the Eagles hold a 7-3 record against the Friars in postseason play.
 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
• Boston College finished seventh in the Hockey East standings and will be on the road in the playoffs for the first time sinec 2009.
• The Eagles are led in scoring by junior David Cotton, who is first in Hockey East with 20 goals. Reigning Hockey East Rookie of the Year Logan Hutsko (4-15-19) and Julius Mattila (7-11-18) round out the top three in scoring for BC.
• Junior Joe Woll has posted a 2.41 GAA and .917 save percentage in 32 starts this season.
 
HAWKEY, WILKINS NAMED SEMIFINALISTS FOR WALTER BROWN AWARD
Goaltender Hayden Hawkey and forward Josh Wilkins were named semifinalists for the 67th Walter Brown Award, presented annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England.
 
20-WIN PLATEAU
The Friars reached 20 wins for the sixth-consecutive season after defeating UConn on Feb. 26.
 
PUCKS ON NET
The Friars rank second among all NCAA schools with a +386 shots on goal margin. Overall, Providence has outshot opponents by an average of 10.72 shots per game. Their 23.36 shots on goal allowed per game ranks fourth overall in the NCAA.
 
THOMPSON NAMED HOCKEY EAST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman Tyce Thompson continued his recent surge with a goal and assist against the Eagles last Thursday night, earning himself Hockey East Rookie of the Week recognition for the second time in less than a month.

Hockey East has partnered with FloSports to provide live streaming of this year's tournament. Purchasing a FloHockey subscription ($29.99 per month) allows fans outside of New England to watch every game in the Hockey East tournament. Fans in New England will only have access to quarterfinal contests on FloHockey with the semifinals and finals televised live on NESNplus. FloHockey will also be streaming the Big Ten and WCHA tournaments in addition to select NCHC quarterfinals.
 
ALL GAMES TO AIR LIVE ON NEWSRADIO 104.7 FM
Beginning with the 2018-19 hockey season, all Friars men's hockey games, in addition to all pregame and postgame network programming will be carried live on NewsRadio 104.7 FM. The agreement also includes 10 editions of the Nate Leaman Coaches Show that will air throughout the season. Mike Logan, who is entering his 24th season as the voice of the Friars, will call all the live action this season on 104.7 FM.  Logan also will host the Nate Leaman Coaches show on 104.7 FM.
 
SECOND HALF SUCCESS AGAINST TOP TEAMS
The Friars are 5-0 in the second half of the season against the remaining top-three teams in the Hockey East standings - UMass (1-0), Northeastern (2-0), UMass Lowell (2-0).
 
HAWKEY OVER THE LAST DOZEN
Goaltender Hayden Hawkey has stepped his game up when the Friars have needed him the most. Over his last 12 games Hawkey is 8-2-2 with a 1.16 GAA, a .953 save percentage and three shutouts.
 
SCHNEIDER SUCCESS
The current group of seniors have dominated at Schneider Arena over the last three-plus seasons, going 49-10-9 over that span (.787).
 
THREE IS THE MAGIC NUMBER
The Friars are 147-13-15 all-time under Nate Leaman when scoring three or more goals in a game.
 
AFTER 40
The Friars are 135-5-12 all-time under Nate Leaman when holding a lead after two periods.
 
PAIRWISE IMPLICATIONS
The Friars can solidify their standing for the NCAA Tournament by advancing this weekend. Should the Eagles advance, Providence will need help to stay above the cutline in the pairwise rankings pending the results of the conference tournaments across the country.
