PROVIDENCE, R.I.– Five Friars scored in double figures led by
Maddie Jolin's (Rehoboth, Mass.) 15 points, but Providence fell to BIG EAST foe Creighton, 73-64, on Feb. 23 in Providence, R.I.  The Friars fell to 16-12 on the season (8-8 BIG EAST), while the Bluejays improved to 13-14 (7-9 BIG EAST).

The Friars held an 8-4 lead with 5:36 remaining in the first quarter. Creighton went on a 10-1 scoring run to take a 14-9 advantage at the 2:34 mark.  Providence's
Kyra Spiwak (Arlington Heights, Ill.) hit a three pointer to cut the deficit to two, but the Bluejays answered with four-straight points to go back on top by six.  Freshman
Kaela Webb (Pontiac, Mich.) hit a three at the buzzer for the Friars, as they faced an 18-15 deficit at the break.

Providence got within one on two occasions early in the second quarter, but Creighton pushed out to an eight-point advantage (33-25) with 3:35 left in the half.  The Bluejays went into the locker room at halftime with a 10-point cushion (37-27).

Creighton hit a three-point bucket to start the third quarter to earn its largest lead of the game (40-27) just 16-seconds into the action.  Providence got as close as four points (43-37) with 2:28 left in the third frame, but with each offensive spurt, Creighton was able to hold off the Friars.  The Bluejays never in the second half en route to their 73-64 win.

Joining Jolin in double figures were Webb, Spiwak,
Olivia Orlando (Winthrop, Mass.) and
Mary Baskerville (Enfield, Conn.) with 10 points each.  Jolin and Orlando led Providence on the boards with five rebounds apiece, while Webb dished a career-high six assists.

Audrey Faber led Creighton with a game-high 21 points, while Temi Carda added 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds.  Jaylin Agnew posted nine points, seven boards and six assists.

The Friars return to action on Friday, March 1 against DePaul at 7:00 p.m.  The game will be played at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. and will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) via FOX Sports Go.
