TALKING POINTSÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â
- The Friars split a two-game series at Alfond Arena last weekend against Maine, taking a 1-0 decision on Friday night before falling 3-1 on Saturday night.
- Maine broke through at 11:39 of the first period on the power play on Chase Pearson's 15th goal of the season.
- The Friars cashed in on the power play for the first time in four games on
Brandon Duhaime's seventh goal of the season that knotted the game up at 1-1.
Jason O'Neill and
Spenser Young earned the assists on the play.
- Providence held an 11-9 shot advantage in the second period, but it was the Black Bears who notched the lone goal as Brendan Robbins capitalized on a turnover and scored shorthanded on a breakaway with under a minute to go in the period to put Maine up 2-1.

Bryan Lemos nearly tied things up in the opening minutes of the third period as a puck found him wide open with an open net but the puck wouldn't settle for him before the Swayman and the Maine defense recovered.
- Mitchell Fossier sealed the game with an empty net goal with just 55.5 seconds remaining.
- Providence's 15-game winning streak and 19-game unbeaten streak against the Black Bears was snapped. It was Maine's first win over the Friars since October of 2011.
- The Friars have scored one goal in four-consecutive games and have now surrendered six shorthanded goals this season.

SERIES HISTORY VS. UMASS LOWELL
- The Friars and River Hawks will tangle in a crucial Hockey East home-and-home series beginning Friday night at Tsongas Center.
- Providence has four won in a row and seven of the last nine in the series.
- All time, the Friars are 27-22-7 on the road against UMass Lowell. At Schneider Arena, Providence has won the last five contests against the River Hawks.

SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS
- UMass Lowell enters the weekend unbeaten over their last 10 games (9-0-1) including shutout home wins last weekend against Boston College and No. 2 UMass.
- The River Hawks boast more success on the road this season, going 11-3-0 in road games. At home, UMass Lowell has posted a 6-5-2 record.
- A balanced attack has guided the River Hawks this season, as nine players have recorded at least 10 points. Tampa Bay draft pick Ryan Lohin leads the team with 23 points (11-12-23), while Connor Sodergren (4-14-18) and Ryan Dmowski (11-6-17) round out the top three in scoring.
- New York Rangers prospect Tyler Wall and Christoffer Hernberg have had a timeshare in goal this season. Wall has started 16 games with a record of 9-6-1, 1.77 GAA and .933 save percentage while Hernberg is 8-2-1 with a 2.36 GAA and .914 save percentage.

ELEVEN GAMES TO AIR ON NBC SPORTS BOSTON
Providence College Athletics announced that NBC Sports Boston, the broadcast home of the Boston Celtics will televise 11 men's hockey home games during the 2018-19 season. Eight of the 11 games will be shown live, while the remaining three games with be tape delayed following the conclusion of Celtics coverage.

Beginning with the 2018-19 hockey season, all Friars men's hockey games, in addition to all pregame and postgame network programming will be carried live on NewsRadio 104.7 FM. The agreement also includes 10 editions of the
Nate Leaman Coaches Show that will air throughout the season. Mike Logan, who is entering his 24th season as the voice of the Friars, will call all the live action this season on 104.7 FM. Logan also will host the
Nate Leaman Coaches show on 104.7 FM.

WIN BIG
In their 16 victories this season, Providence's average margin of victory has been an average of 3.19 goals, which ranks third in the NCAA. The Friars have outscored opponents by an average of 4.38-1.19 in those 16 wins this season and all but one of those 16 wins have been by at least two goals. The power play has fueled that success as they have converted at a 28.6% clip in wins and only a 13.3% rate in their eight losses.

Goaltender
Hayden Hawkey recorded his single-season program record sixth shutout of the season against Maine on Friday night. His 64 career wins are tied for the program record. His .642 winning percentage currently ranks second all-time in program history, while his 14 shutouts were also a program record set on Friday night. The 64 wins lead all active NCAA goaltenders while his 14 shutouts are second among active goaltenders (Jake Kielly - Clarkson, 16).
