Providence Falls To No. 18 Georgetown In BIG EAST Semifinal, 2-0

This marked the third-consecutive season the Friars reached the semifinal round.

OMAHA, Neb. – The Providence College women's soccer team was eliminated from the BIG EAST Tournament in the semifinal round against the No. 18 Georgetown Hoyas, 2-0, on Thursday, Nov. 7 in Omaha, Neb.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
  • Georgetown found the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute. Julia Leas played a free kick from in between the eighteen-yard box and the sideline that Carson Nizialek headed to the back post, Kelly Livingstone ran onto the header and finished with her thigh past Shelby Hogan (Franklin, Mass.).
  • The Friars built pressure in the latter half of the opening 45 minutes but trailed in shots, 11-4, heading into the locker room.
  • Providence came out strong in the second half with most of possession coming in the attacking third for the first 15 minutes, despite no goals to show.
  • Amanda Carolan added to the Hoyas lead in the 56th minute. Carolan took the ball in from the left sideline before putting a right-footed shot to the upper right corner over an outstretched Hogan.
  • Providence ends the season with an 8-9-3 overall record, advancing to the BIG EAST Semifinal for the third-consecutive season.
  • The Friars now hold a 5-8-3 record all-time in the BIG EAST Tournament.
  • This marked Providence's sixth-straight BIG EAST Tournament appearance.
