PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's soccer team hosts the No. 6 seed Marquette University in the Frist Round of the BIG EAST Men's Soccer Championship on Saturday, Nov. 9. The Friars are the No. 3 seed giving them home field advantage. The match is set for kick-off at 12:00 p.m. on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. Providence shutout Marquette, 2-0, in their last meeting on Oct. 12 and hold a 4-0-2 record in their last six meetings.

Scouting the Golden Eagles
Marquette ended their season on the road with a 1-0 win over DePaul. This finalized their record to 8-8-1 on the season and 4-5 in league play. Previously they lost 2-1 to Seton Hall (Nov. 2) and 3-0 to Georgetown on Oct. 26. On Oct. 23, they defeated Butler 3-2 at home. Josh Coan leads the team in points (16). He scored six goals and tallied four assists. Patrick Seagrist leads the team in assists (7) and has scored two goals. This gives him 11 points on the season. Connor Alba has scored three goals and three assists for a total of nine points. Manual Cujak, Lukas Sunesson and Christian Marquez have contributed seven points to round out the top half. In net, Cedrik Stern has started eight games for the Golden Eagles. He has a 1.75 goals against average and a .731 save percentage.
Scouting the Friars
The Friars have won their last four games including their most recent shutout over No. 8 St. John's on Wednesday, Nov. 6. The Friars captured the 2-0 win at home on two goals scored in the second half by
Paulo Lima (Lisbon, Portugal) and
Esben Wolf (Copenhagen, Denmark). This improved their record to 12-5-0 on the season and 6-3-0 in league play. The Friars defeated Xavier, 2-1, on Nov. 2 on goals from Lima and
Ramzi Qawasmy (Landsdale, Pa.) in the last 10 minutes of the match. On Saturday, Oct. 26 Providence got their second overtime win of the season over Creighton at home. Lima scored the golden goal in the 98
th minute to give the Friars the victory, 3-2. On Wednesday, Oct. 23, Providence had a 2-0 win on the road at Villanova.
Danny Griffin (Wethersfield, Conn.) scored his second goal of the season. Lima scored the insurance goal at the 60' mark.
Joao Serrano (Evora, Portugal) leads the team in points with 14 on four goals and six assists. Lima has scored a goal in the last four games of the regular season to give him six total goals and one assist for 13 points.
Davis Smith (Amherst, Mass.) has 12 points on four goals and four assists.
Trevor Davock (Medway, Mass.) has tallied nine points on three goals and three assists. Wolf has accumulated eight points with three assists and two goals. In goal,
Austin Aviza (Medway, Mass.) has started every game for the Friars. He has a 0.90 goals against average and a .706 save percentage.

Providence is tied for second in shutouts (9) in the league and is second in the amount of shots taken per game and assists.
Outshooting Opponents
Providence has outshot its opponents 284-97 throughout the season. The Friars held the Golden Eagles to two shots on Oct. 12 and Xavier to three shots on Nov. 2.
Free Soccer
Providence has played in two overtime games so far this season. Both of them have been wins for the Friars over UConn and Creighton.

Providence has nine total shutouts this season, including four in BIG EAST play. The Friars had four straight shutouts at the beginning of the season.
Preseason Poll and Awards
Tiago Mendonca was voted to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team entering the 2019 season. In the coaches poll, the Friars were picked to finish third in the conference standings. Georgetown, the reigning tournament champion, was selected to finish first with nine first place votes (81 points). Creighton, who finished first in regular season play last season, was picked second (68 points). Providence (65 points), Marquette (59 points) and Xavier (44 points) round out the top half of the poll. Butler (40 points), St. John's (33 points), Seton Hall (28 points), DePaul (21 points) and Villanova (11 points) finish out the standings.
