PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College men's and women's cross-country teams will travel to Audubon Golf Course in Buffalo, N.Y. for the NCAA Northeast Regionals on Friday, Nov. 15. The women's 6k race is set for 11:00 a.m. and the men's 10k race is set for 12:00 p.m. The Providence women are ranked fourth in the Northeast Region and the men are ranked 10
th in the region. The women line up against nationally ranked No. 21 Columbia and No. 29 Syracuse. The men will be racing against nationally ranked No. 8 Iona and No. 18 Syracuse.
The Friar women will be led by
Maria Coffin (Annapolis, Md.),
Abbey Wheeler (Elmira, N.Y.) and
Lilly Tuck (Sunderland, Canada). At the BIG EAST Championship in wet and snowy conditions in Kenosha, Wis. on Nov. 2, Coffin finished fourth (21:56.5), Wheeler finished seventh (22:09.3) and Tuck finished 11
th (22:19.0). All three Friars earned All-BIG EAST Honors. The honors were its first for Coffin and Tuck and fourth for Wheeler. Wheeler has claimed two BIG EAST Women Athlete of the Week honors this season. The Friar women won the NCAA Northeast Regional most recently in 2017, where Wheeler finished 15
th overall, fourth for the Friars (22:19.16).
Marcelo Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) and
David Rosas (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y.) will lead the charge for the Friar men. The junior duo led the team to a first-place finish at the New England Championships earlier this season. Rocha and Rosas have both earned BIG EAST Male Athlete of the Week honors this season.
