Men's Soccer Wins, 2-1, In Overtime At UConn

Trevor Davock scored the golden goal for the Friars.

STORRS, Conn. – The Providence College men's soccer team topped UConn, 2-1, in their final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday (Oct.8). Trevor Davock scored the golden goal to give the Friars their first overtime win this season.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- Joao Serrano (Evora, Portugal) gave the Friars a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute. Serrano floated the ball over the keeper into the top left of the net off a corner kick.
- Dayonn Harris gave the Huskies a chance to score in the last minute but his shot was just outside the right goal post.
- In 50th minute Robin Lapert scored for the Huskies to tie the game at 1-1. Ziyad Fekri crossed the ball on a corner kick and connected with Lapert who scored on a header in dead center net.
- In the 65th minute Darron Harris had a chance to score but Austin Aviza (Medway, Mass) made a diving save in the lower left of the net to keep the score tied.
- At the end of regulation, the score was tied 1-1.
- Just two minutes into overtime, Trevor Davock (Medway, Mass.) scored the golden goal to give the Friars the win, 2-1. Kevin Vang (Cranston, R.I.) dished the ball out to Esben Wolf (Copenhagen, Denmark) on the left side of the pitch. Wolf passed the ball into Davock who scored at the edge of the six-yard box in the lower right of the net.
- Friars held an advantage in corner kicks, 11-2.

1-0 (PC) – 30:03/1st – Joao Serrano – Serrano scored off a corner kick taken from the near side.
1-1 (UCONN) – 49:24/2nd – Robin Lapert (Fekri) – Lapert scored on a header from a corner kick on the near side.
2-1 (PC) – 91:17/OT – Trevor Davock (Wolf, Vang) – Vang dished the ball out to Wolf in the lower left of the pitch who then passed to Davock who scored with his right foot.
