PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence men's soccer team fell to Butler University, 3-1, on Friday, Oct. 4 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. Joao Serrano scored the Friars' lone goal.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- Trevor Davock (Medway, Mass.) gave the Friars their first chance to score in the 7th minute. He controlled the ball in the box and shot with his right foot where Gabirel Gjergji made a diving save.
- In the 8th minute Joao Serrano (Evora, Portugal) put the Friars up 1-0 on a corner kick that was tapped in by a defender.
- Butler tied the game in the 48th minute on a goal by Brendan Hicks. Hicks got the rebound off the post from a free kick and scored in the right top of the net.
- Providence had a good chance to score in the 54th minute. Davock ripped the ball to the bottom right of the net that Gabirel Gjergji was able to deflect. Davis Smith (Amherst, Mass.) got the rebound and took a shot inside the box that the keeper was able to hold on to.
- In the 60th minute Butler took the lead on goal by Wilmer Cabrera, Jr. Alex Lehtinen crossed the ball inside box to Cabrera who sent the ball into the back left side of the net.
- Hicks scored again in the 71st minute to give the Bulldogs a 3-1 cushion. Cabrera took a shot from the right side of the 18-yard box that Austin Aviza (Medway, Mass.) was able to save. Hicks got the rebound and was able to slip the ball pat Aviza on the second opportunity.
- The Friars had 4-0 advantage in corner kicks and outshot the Bulldogs 15 to 7.
- The Bulldogs received three yellow cards.
