VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Providence College men's soccer team defeated Villanova, 2-0, on Oct. 23 in Villanova, Pa. It marked the Friars' fourth-consecutive win over the Wildcats.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- In the 18th minute Danny Griffin (Wethersfield, Conn.) gave the Friars a good chance to score off a shot 20 yards out that was saved by a diving Carson Williams.
- The Friars took the lead, 1-0, in the 26th minute on a goal by Griffin. Trevor Davock (Medway, Mass.) threw the ball in to Paulo Lima (Lisbon, Portugal), who dished the ball out through traffic to Griffin. Griffin finished the ball into the upper right corner of the net.
- Lima scored an insurance goal in the 60th minute to give Providence a 2-0 lead. Joao Serrano (Evora, Portugal) crossed the ball off a corner kick into the goal area that Lima tipped in with his left foot.
- The Wildcats got quality attempts off in the 75th and 77th minute, but Austin Aviza (Medway, Mass.) was in perfect position each time to keep Villanova scoreless.
- Providence outshot the Wildcats 18-10 and held the advantage in corner kicks, 6-4.
- Aviza recorded his third BIG EAST shutout and sixth of the season overall.

1-0 (PC) 25:05/1st – Danny Griffin (Lima) – Lima passed the ball to Griffin who finished with his right foot in the penalty area.
2-0 (PC) 59:04/2nd - Paolo Lima (Serrano) – Serrano took a corner kick from the far side that Lima was able to finish with his left foot into the right of the net.

The Friars come home to host Creighton University on Saturday, Oct. 26 for their annual Pink Out Friartown game. Thundersticks will be given out at the beginning of the game. The match is set for kick-off at 3:00 p.m. on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.
