PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College women's cross-country team travels to Madison, Wis. for the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational. The Friars will toe the line against 17 nationally ranked teams including No. 1 Arkansas, T-No. 4 New Mexico, T-No. 4. Stanford, No. 6 Utah, No. 9 North Carolina State and No. 10 Michigan State. The women's championship 6k race is set for Friday, Oct. 18 at 1:20 p.m. ET.
Leading the pack for the Friars will be
Abbey Wheeler (Elmira, N.Y.) and
Maria Coffin (Annapolis, Md.). Wheeler looks to improve upon her 37
th place finish (20:30.8) last year at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational. Wheeler is coming off two victories this season, UNH Tri Meet and Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown.
Coffin finished in 74
th last season at the Invitational (20:59.5). Coffin has recorded two strong finishes this year, placing second at the UNH Tri Meet and 12
th at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown.
Following the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, the Friar women will travel to Kenosha, Wis. on Nov. 2 for the BIG EAST Championships.
