TALKING POINTSÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â
- Providence completed the two-game sweep over No. 8 Northeastern with a 3-0 win on Saturday night at Matthews Arena.
- The Huskies nearly grabbed an early lead as Brandon Hawkins was robbed at point-blank range by Hawkey but the puck spun to the goal line before being rescued by
Vincent Desharnais.
- Providence cashed in on its only power play of the period as
Tyce Thompson put away his fourth goal of the assist after crisp passing from
Brandon Duhaime and
Josh Wilkins.
- The Friars gained a two-goal cushion early in the second period as Desharnais fired a shot from the point that eluded Primeau after a screen from
John McDermott out from. McDermott and
Matt Koopman earned the assists on the play.

Jack Dugan notched his ninth goal of the season midway through the third period after he cleaned up a rebound from a
Spenser Young one-timer.
- Despite holding a lead, the Friars held the Huskies in check during the third period, outshooting them 13-8 in the final frame.
- Hawkey matched his season-high with 34 saves and earned his fifth shutout of the season. The shutout puts him in a tie with Jon Gillies for the program record of 13 career shutouts. For his efforts, he was named Hockey East Player of the Week.
- Earning his 63
rd win between the pipes, Hawkey sits two wins shy of setting the program record for career wins (Mario Proulx, 64).
- Providence is now unbeaten in the last six games against Northeastern (5-0-1) dating back to November of 2016.
- The Friars are 3-4-2 against ranked teams overall this season.
- Providence was outshot for just the second time this season.

SERIES HISTORY VS. VERMONT
• The teams will meet for the 62nd and 63rd time this weekend as a two-game series kicks off at Schneider Arena on Friday.
• The Catamounts claimed last season's series, 1-0-1, after taking three points against the Friars up at Gutterson Fieldhouse, snapping Providence's five-game winning streak in that building.
• All time, the Friars are 11-10-6 on home ice against Vermont dating back to the series' first meeting in 1969.

SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
• Vermont enters the weekend fresh off a two-game home sweep over Merrimack last weekend. After a convincing 5-1 win last Friday, Max Kaufman scored 3:40 into overtime to give the Catamounts a 4-3 win over the Warriors on Saturday night. The win last Friday night snapped a five-game losing streak for the Catamounts.
• Kaufman (7g, 8a) and Liam Coughlin (5g, 10a) each lead the team with 15 points, followed by Alex Esposito (6-8-14) and Derek Lodermeier (3-10-13).
• In goal, junior Stefanos Lekkas has started all 24 games in recording a 2.48 GAA and .924 save percentage. He has faced the third-most shots in the NCAA (794) and has recorded the second-most saves (734).

KOOPMAN TWINS JOIN THE ROSTER FOR THE SECOND SEMESTER
Marblehead, Mass. natives Matt and
Kyle Koopman will join the program for the second semester. Matt totaled eight goals and 17 assists with Waterloo (USHL) while Kyle tallied eight assists with West Kelowna (BCHL) prior to joining the Friars.

BOTTOM SIX CHIPPING IN LAST WEEKEND
Providence got key contributions from their bottom six forwards as they combined for three goals and three assists in two wins over No. 8 Northeastern last weekend.

The Friars lead all NCAA schools with a +290 shots on goal margin. Overall, Providence has outshot opponents by an average of 11.15 shots per game. Their 22.81 shots on goal allowed per game ranks second overall in the NCAA.

ELEVEN GAMES TO AIR ON NBC SPORTS BOSTON
Providence College Athletics announced that NBC Sports Boston, the broadcast home of the Boston Celtics will televise 11 men's hockey home games during the 2018-19 season. Eight of the 11 games will be shown live, while the remaining three games with be tape delayed following the conclusion of Celtics coverage.

Beginning with the 2018-19 hockey season, all Friars men's hockey games, in addition to all pregame and postgame network programming will be carried live on NewsRadio 104.7 FM. The agreement also includes 10 editions of the
Nate Leaman Coaches Show that will air throughout the season. Mike Logan, who is entering his 24th season as the voice of the Friars, will call all the live action this season on 104.7 FM. Logan also will host the
Nate Leaman Coaches show on 104.7 FM.

WIN BIG
In their 15 victories this season, Providence's average margin of victory has been an average of 3.33 goals, which ranks first in the NCAA. The Friars have outscored opponents by an average of 4.60-1.27 in those 15 wins this season and all 15 wins have been by at least two goals. The power play has fueled that success as they have converted at a 30.0% clip in wins and only a 13.2% rate in their seven losses.

A PUCK HAWK IN NET
Goaltender
Hayden Hawkey recorded his fifth shutout of the season against Northeastern on Jan. 26. His 63 career wins rank second all-time at Providence and he sits two wins shy of breaking the program record of 64 (Mario Proulx '84). His .652 winning percentage currently ranks first all-time in program history, while his 13 shutouts are tied with Jon Gillies for the program record. The 63 wins lead all active NCAA goaltenders while his 13 shutouts are second among active goaltenders (Jake Kielly - Clarkson, 16).
