TALKING POINTS            
- Providence snapped a three-game winless streak after earning a 5-1 win over Brown on Tuesday night in the 33rd edition of the Mayor's Cup.
- The Friars struck for four goals in the opening 9:00 of the game to take control early.
Kasper Björkqvist got things started with his 10th goal of the season as he gave the Friars a 1-0 lead on the power play just 3:08 in.
- Greg Printz made it a two-goal cushion 39 seconds later with his eighth goal of the season and first since Dec. 7.
- Josh Wilkins continued his torrid pace as his wrist shot chased Luke Kania from the game and gave Providence a 3-0 lead. It was Wilkins' ninth of the season and third goal in as many games.
- Jack Dugan tacked on Providence's fourth goal of the game 40 seconds later as he slipped a forehand deke between the pads of Gavin Nieto for his eighth goal of the season.
- The Friars extended the lead once again just 2:18 into the second period as Scott Conway notched his team-leading 12th goal.
- The teams combined for only seven shots in the third period and the Friars utilized all three goaltenders over the final nine minutes of play.
- Brown broke the shutout with 5:29 to play on Tristan Crozier's unassisted goal.
- Gabe Mollot-Hill (2 saves) and freshman walk-on Jimmy Scannell (2 saves) each appeared in relief in the third period.
- Wilkins extended his career-long point streak to 13 games (7-12-19). He leads the Friars in scoring with 26 points overall and has scored a goal in three-consecutive games. The point streak is the longest in the NCAA this season.
- Providence improves to 7-3-2 on the road this season and is tied for the national lead with Bowling Green in scoring offense on the road this season at 3.75.
- Conway now has nine goals over his last eight games.
- The Friars have outscored the Bears by a 16-1 margin over the last three Mayor's Cup games and have held the trophy since the 2015-16 season.
- Jason O'Neill registered his first two-point game since Nov. 24, 2017 against Maine in the Friendship Four in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
• After defeating the Friars last Friday night, the Eagles have dropped two straight games to Hockey East foes UNH (6-4) and Maine (7-2).
• All of Boston College's wins in 2018-19 have come in Hockey East play, where they are in third place in the standings with a 7-3-2 record.
• The Eagles are led in scoring by junior David Cotton, who is tied for first in Hockey East with 13 goals. Julius Mattila (7-9-16) and reigning Hockey East Rookie of the Year Logan Hutsko (4-9-13) round out the top three  in scoring.
• Junior Joe Woll has posted a 2.28 GAA and .923 save percentage in 16 starts this season.
 
LEANING ON THE TOP LINE
Providence's top line of Kasper Björkqvist-Josh Wilkins-Jack Dugan have combined for 72 points on 27 goals and 45 assists in 23 games.
 
KOOPMAN TWINS JOIN THE ROSTER FOR THE SECOND SEMESTER
Marblehead, Mass. natives Matt and Kyle Koopman will join the program for the second semester. Matt totaled eight goals and 17 assists with Waterloo (USHL) while Kyle tallied eight assists with West Kelowna (BCHL) prior to joining the Friars.
 
DUHAIME NAMED HOCKEY EAST PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Junior Brandon Duhaime notched Hockey East Player of the Month honors for December after leading all Hockey East players with eight points over four games (1-7-8). It was the first monthly recognition for Duhaime.
 
PUCKS ON NET
The Friars lead all NCAA schools with a +270 shots on goal margin. Overall, Providence has outshot opponents by an average of 11.74 shots per game. Their 22.61 shots on goal allowed per game ranks second overall in the NCAA.
 
ELEVEN GAMES TO AIR ON NBC SPORTS BOSTON
Providence College Athletics announced that NBC Sports Boston, the broadcast home of the Boston Celtics will televise 11 men's hockey home games during the 2018-19 season. Eight of the 11 games will be shown live, while the remaining three games with be tape delayed following the conclusion of Celtics coverage.
 
ALL GAMES TO AIR LIVE ON NEWSRADIO 104.7 FM
Beginning with the 2018-19 hockey season, all Friars men's hockey games, in addition to all pregame and postgame network programming will be carried live on NewsRadio 104.7 FM. The agreement also includes 10 editions of the Nate Leaman Coaches Show that will air throughout the season. Mike Logan, who is entering his 24th season as the voice of the Friars, will call all the live action this season on 104.7 FM.  Logan also will host the Nate Leaman Coaches show on 104.7 FM.
 
JAY O'BRIEN EARNS SILVER AT 2019 WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Freshman Jay O'Brien earned the silver medal at the 2019 World Junior Championships after Finland defeated the United States in the gold medal game last Saturday. He is the third Friar to earn a medal at the World Junior Championships (Jon Gillies - Gold, 2013 & Erik Foley - Gold, 2017).
 
A PUCK HAWK IN NET
Goaltender Hayden Hawkey recorded his fourth shutout of the season against Merrimack on Dec. 7. His 61 career wins are tied for second all-time at Providence and he sits four wins shy of breaking the program record of 64 (Mario Proulx '84). His .652 winning percentage currently ranks first all-time in program history, while his 12 shutouts are one shy of tying Gillies for the program record.
 
SCHNEIDER SUCCESS
The current group of seniors have dominated at Schneider Arena over the last three-plus seasons, going 45-9-7 over that span (.795).
 
THREE IS THE MAGIC NUMBER
The Friars are 141-13-15 all-time under Nate Leaman when scoring three or more goals in a game.
 
AFTER 40
The Friars are 130-5-12 all-time under Nate Leaman when holding a lead after two periods.
 
UP NEXT
The Friars will take on nationally-ranked Northeastern next weekend for a home-and-home series. It will be Noel Acciari Bobblehead night on Friday, Jan. 25 before the Friars head up to Matthews Arena the following night.
