PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with the Boston College Eagles on Friday night (Aug. 31) on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.

- Boston College got on the board first with an early goal in the seventh minute. Callum Johnson played a ball in over the top of the defense that Beto Luna ran onto and headed over
Colin Miller (Bel Air, Md.).

Tiago Mendonca (Faro, Portugal) tied the game with his second goal of the season at the 31:29 mark of the first half.
Kevin Vang (Cranston, R.I.) played a through ball to
Malcolm Duncan (Toronto, Ontario) down the line. He drove to the end line and played it back across to Mendonca in the center for a one-time finish.
- Providence held a 5-1 shot advantage after the first 45 minutes of play.
- In the 61
st minute,
Braden Kline (Lancaster, Pa.) took a shot from the top of the box that forced Antonio Chavez-Borelli to make an athletic diving stop.
- The Friars came close to another goal in the 69
th minute. Vang played a ball through the seam of the defense and
Simon Fisher (Brookline, Mass.) rang a shot off the far post.
- Luna of Boston College was assessed a red card in the 75
th minute of play, forcing the Eagles to play with 10 men for the remainder of the game.
- The Friars outshot the Eagles 21-5 in the game, including a 6-1 margin in the overtime stanzas. Chavez-Borelli finished the day with 9 saves for Boston College, while Miller had to make just one.
