PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's and women's cross-country teams are set to compete at the NCAA Northeast Regional Meet on Nov. 9 in Buffalo, N.Y. The meet determines the NCAA Championship qualifiers with the top-two teams earning an automatic bid.
NCAA Northeast Regional Meet Schedule:

Abbey Wheeler (Elmira, N.Y.) will lead the Friars on Friday after a fourth-place finish at the BIG EAST Championship Meet (Oct. 27). Wheeler placed fourth overall and earned All-Big EAST Honors. Last year, Wheeler finished 15
th(22:19.1) at the NCAA Northeast Regional Meet, earning All-Regional Honors. After earning All- BIG EAST Honors and claiming two NCAA and BIG EAST Runner Of The Week Awards, Wheeler looks to be running in the top pack this Friday.
Joining Wheeler will be graduate students
Regan Rome (Dalla, Pa.) and
Tessa Barrett (Waverly, Pa.). Rome and Barret were the Friars second and third runners across the line at the BIG EAST Championships. Rome placed 11
thand Barrett placed 14
th , earning All-BIG EAST Honors. Rome and Barret have been improving throughout the season and look to bring their experience against regionally and nationally ranked teams.
Joining Wheeler, Rome and Barret is sophomore
Maria Coffin (Annapolis, Md.) and junior
Alex DeCicco (Sachem, N.Y.). Coffin finished 24
th at the BIG EAST Championships after fighting off a sickness throughout the week. DeCicco was not far behind Coffin at the BIG EAST Championships, placing 27
th. Coffin and DeCicco will look to be the strong fourth and fifth runners for the Friars tomorrow morning (Nov.9).
Rounding out the top-seven is freshman
Hannah McReavy (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and senior
Dara Cuffe (Cornwall, N.Y.). McReavy had a solid race at the BIG EAST Championships placing 36
thand looks to keep that momentum going for the NCAA Northeast Regional Meet.
On the men's side, sophomore Ryan Gallagher (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) will lead the Friars around the 10km course after his performance at the BIG EAST Championships. Gallagher finished as the first Providence runner at the meet, finishing 18
thoverall earning All-BIG EAST Honors.
Joining Gallagher will be senior Austin Scola (Medfield, Mass.) and graduate student Michael Wyman (Marion, Mass.). At the BIG EAST Championships, Scola was the next Friar across the line in 23
rdplace, while Wyman was not far behind placing 25
th. Last year at the NCAA Northeast Regional Meet, Scola ran a strong and smart race finishing 62
nd(33:33.1). Scola and Wyman both look to bring their regional experience to the 10k race tomorrow afternoon.
Sophomores Angus White (New Plymouth, New Zealand), David Rosas (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y.) and Marcelo Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) will toe the line for the Friars on Friday. Last time out, these men finished less than ten spots from one another at the BIG EAST Championships. White placed 27
th, Rosas placed 30
thand Rocha was not far behind in 35
th. This time last year, White placed 71
st(33:40.4) at the NCAA Regional Meet and looks to improve to score points for the Friars.
Senior Marcus Karamanolis (Wellington, New Zealand) also will return for Providence. Last year at the NCAA Regional Meet, Karamanolis was the top Friar, placing 37
th(32:59.2). Karamanolis will look to use his strength and regional experience to contribute to the Providence top-five.
