PROVIDENCE, R.I.– Providence College field hockey players
Corinne Kenney (Warrington, Pa.) and
Mary O'Reilly (Longmeadow, Mass.) were among the list of student-athletes who earned 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Region honors. The National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) announced its All-Region selections on Nov. 26. Kenney was tabbed as a Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Northeast Region First-Team pick, while O'Reilly received Second-Team accolades. By virtue of her First-Team selection, Kenney will be eligible for All-America honors.
Kenney previously earned All-BIG EAST First-Team honors in addition to Preseason All-BIG EAST recognition. She started all 19 games for the Friars in 2018 and recorded five points on a career-best five assists. She registered a single-game high of three assists vs. LIU Brooklyn on Sept. 16. Kenney missed the 2016 season with an injury, but returned to the field in 2017 and claimed All-BIG EAST Second-Team honors. She also is a three-time NFHCA Division I Academic Squad and BIG EAST All-Academic Team honoree. Kenney has played in 56 career games at Providence and owns 10 points on two goals and six assists.
O'Reilly, who was an All-BIG EAST Second-Team pick and BIG EAST All-Tournament Team selection, cracked double-digits in the scoring column for the first time in her career in 2018. She started all 19 games in the midfield and finished with 10 points on four goals and two assists. She was credited with the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Fairfield on Oct. 7. For her career, O'Reilly has appeared in 56 games and registered 22 points on seven goals and eight assists. O'Reilly claimed BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll accolades on Oct. 22 of this season. She also has been honored as a NFHCA Division I Academic Squad selection (2017) and a two-time BIG EAST All-Academic selection (2017, 2018).
